"Anastasia, please." Cathy begged over the phone. "I've never asked for anything from you before."

"I wouldn't know what to do." Ana replied. "Isn't there any other option?"

"No baby, I can't afford it and momma didn't raise me to be a killer." She cried.

"Ok." Ana sighed. "I'll do it."

"Thank you." She said heartfelt through the phone.

"I have to go, it's time for my meeting with the dean." Ana said. "I'll talk to you more later."

Ana hung up the phone and sat in a vacant chair outside the deans office. She didn't know why she had been called here. She had changed her course to full time almost two months ago and had been excelling so she didn't think she was in trouble. The assistant called her name and opened the door for her to enter.

"Miss Cano. Thank you for seeing me." Dean Bagwell said shaking her hand.

"What exactly is this about?" Ana asked as she sat opposite the desk.

"A professor mentioned your name during a meeting and I was interested to know more." He said reclining in his chair. "I read through your file and saw you have excelled in all your papers. There's an internship opportunity at city council for a handful of students. I want to put your name forward."

"That would be wonderful, thank you." She smiled nodding. "I would love that."

"Good, I'll be in touch with the details soon." He said wavering her from the room.

Ana practically skipped across campus to her Urban Planning studies class. She couldn't believe how much her luck had turned around since she turned 21. Six more months and she would be have her Bachelor of Planning. If she could line up a job with the council from this internship, it would be perfect.

The only thing she had to do with sell her studio apartment and get one with more space. Calling Cathy back, she agreed wholeheartedly to help her friend and would get a two bedroom place as soon as she could. She owed everything to her friend who took her to the casino that night. It changed her entire future.
