ु zeke was born in a rich family, mostly because of his mother's side.
ु he got what he mostly wanted — anything he could ask for.
ु he grew up playing with his cousins frieda reiss and willy tybur, often talking of their little dreams — willy being an accomplished director, frieda an equestrian. when asked by his cousins about his dream, his answer was: ❝ i will be a pro at playing the game dad showed me ! baseball! ❞
his parents, however, saw him fit to inherit his father's career, just as his father followed his own father.
ु dina and grisha began to force him to study harder, letting him take advanced courses and buying medical books for him to read as soon as eight years old.
ु this broke the child's heart but he followed. . . if it meant making his parents happy.
ु ❝ if you want it, go for it! ❞ willy had told him, pushing him to pursue baseball. zeke began practicing thereafter, his uncle, urie reiss, getting tom xavier as his mentor.
ु to avoid the wrath of his dad, zeke followed frieda's advice to hide his equipment under the bed. . . it was safe for a while.
ु grisha discovered that his son had interests in baseball. dirk reiss had mentioned that he saw zeke play ball. he stormed his room and threw all the things his son had, screaming that he was to be a doctor.
❝ you are going to be a surgeon! ❞ his father had said, dina holding onto his arm, begging to not hit their son. in blind rage, zeke spits back: ❝ you are never a good doctor because you failed to save your own sister! ❞
he never saw his aunt, faye, but she died in the operating room right after a fatal car crash.
ु this angered his father. he began to hit his own son, his wife staring at him in horror. dina worried about her son, often stressing, leading to her getting ill. . . and soon dying.
this devastated zeke, but he pushed it away, focusing on his "studies".
ु at ten, he became highly suspicious of his father as he began to be always away from home.
ु as he grew older, so did his rebellion. at the sophomore year of highschool, he began to play baseball, going as far to reach varsity even at a young age. his cousins were there to support him.
tom xavier also taught him well. he received xavier's glasses as a token of friendship. after that, willy and frieda started showing up in round spectacles to his games.
ु of course it didn't last long to be secret. at one game, grisha showed up. . . with carla and eren.
he approached his father, ❝ explain yourself! ❞
his cousins were shocked when grisha introduced zeke to be his nephew. even to the point of saying that carla was his wife. . . which was, well, true.
that was the last straw.
ु zeke ran away with the assistance of willy tybur and urklyn reiss. they got him to college.
