CHAPTER TEN | MOM & DAD

______

GENEVIEVE ROLLED HER EYES at the sight in front of her. Movies always portrayed police teams as hot Greek gods that are professionals and know what they're doing, hinting Tom Cruise. My, how she's been fooled.

For the most, the team she was working with - obviously excluding Elias - was a complete utter failure. What had to annoy her out of everything wasn't how they did their job, it was that they never really worked.

Her eyes skimmed through their job applications, most being filled with lies, she should know.

Smith Albert Johnson - weight 100 pounds. Lie.

She laughed, he weighed a hundred pounds on each finger, raising her gaze she watched Smith who was scarfing down a large burrito, the insides spilling out through the other end.

Susan (Susie) Peters - agility and master in martial arts. Another Lie.

Genevieve snorted once again, she couldn't help it. How could people get a job when their resume is filled with lies? Shaking her head, her eyes trailed around Susie, who was eating a doughnut. A few pieces of the sweet treat fell down the ground, making the chubby woman use the table to bend down.

Bob Oliver - extremely attractive and muscular. Lie. Lie. Lie.

For what felt like the millionth time that week, the brunette slammed the documents against the rusty black coffee table and threw herself on the uncomfortable leather loveseat.

She aimed her gaze towards Bob, who was staring right back at her, his face holding a ghost smirk. Feeling uncomfortable, she looked over at Elias who was intently watching security camera footage from the museum.

Both adults haven't talked since their little incident a few days prior. But who could blame them, accidentally cuddling and sleeping with someone, plus flirting with them isn't exactly the definition of comfort. Especially when you secretly are admiring them.

Of course, Genevieve would never admit it, especially, never out loud. Even if she had a chance with Elias, they would never work.

Compared to how Tiffany described her younger brother's rebellious teenage years, he seemed like a completely different man. Elias was what you could call a 'good boy'. He wouldn't sin even if his life depended on it, he was truly a kind being and couldn't hurt anybody purposely or without a reason.

Now, Genevieve, she's a different story. She's the person your parents would warn you not to hang around with. In honesty, she's sadistic, sardonic, and overly believably cruel. The amount of people she's killed were barely countable, the people she's hurt are a completely different story. If they were to write a book about the brunette's amount of sins committed in her life, the author wouldn't live to finish it.

It certainly amused her, Francesca De Angelo, a dear elderly friend of hers always told her the saying, "opposites attract." Genevieve certainly tried to believe it.

Key word, tried.

She just couldn't get herself to believe the quote. Especially if it related to her, Genevieve's life was just a series of tallied misfortunes including deaths, disappearances, lies, and more lies. Elias was like a fresh cut diamond, perfect, and flawless. She's the little piece of dust in the corner of a room, worthless and dirty.
