Chapter Two
"Why?" She repeated to Derek.
"I don't know!" he said his voice rising.
"Well once you find out tell me. I'd really like to know. Also I want you to stop following me. It's creeping me out, and don't you ever try taking one of my drawings again!" she said spinning on her heel and walking away from him. She didn't get far when she felt a hand on her arm spin her back around.
"What is it with you and you're drawings anyway?" He asked her curiously not letting go of her arm. He felt a tingling sensation shoot up his arm and he ignored it. "I don't even know what they are of!"
Amerest felt the same thing shoot up her arm and she shivered. She tried to pull away from his grasp, but he had a really hard grip that wouldn't ease up. "Good! The less you understand them the better! Now release me!"
"No. I don't have to," he said. He didn't understand what she meant. She was very confusing. But he wasn't releasing her until he got her to answer his questions. "I'll release you if you answer two questions."
"So if I don't answer your questions you won't let me go?" He nodded his head at her. She was quiet for a minute weighing the possiblities. She could make him let her go, but that would attract too much unwanted attention. Or she could answer his questions and be released right away afterwards. But she first had to know what his questions were. "Ok. What are your questions?"
He grinned at her. "One: Why do you not want me to see your drawings? And second," he paused for a little emphasize, "what is your drawing of?"
Ok bad idea. Don't answer those questions! Just run! Her mind screamed at her. And she listened. She felt her nails grow an inch or so and then she grabbed his hand that was on her arm with her left hand and scratched him down the length of his arm. It was the first idea that popped into her head. He immediately released her and looked at his arm. She didn't want to see his reaction so she ran down the way she was headed. She ran right into the girl's bathroom and locked herself in the last stall. He wouldn't dare come in here with teachers roaming the halls in between classes. But she had to get to her next class. She had never skipped class. She had come in late, but never skipped. Even though she was well ignored she would never skip. It would draw attention to the officers that walked down the halls and the security cameras would catch her roaming around.
She heard the bell ring. She silently prayed that Derek had gone straight to class and wasn't right now waiting outside the restroom for her, as she made her way to the door. She opened it a little and glanced outside. There was no one in sight. She let out a sigh of relief and stepped out. She sprinted down the hall to her next block that wasn't that far.
She slowed before reaching the door trying to catch her breath. She let out a long breath of air and walked into the block. No one looked up and the teacher ignored her late entrance. She creeped down the aisles to the back. She kept her head down as usual until she reached her seat. She looked up and almost screamed from suprise. Derek sat in her seat looking at her menancingly.
She groaned at her badluck or carma. She looked around the block looking for another open seat, but they were all taken except one. The one next to Derek. She sighed and sat in the seat, not wanting to draw the teacher's attention to her presence.
"Look what you did!" She heard Derek hiss in her ear. She turned and looked at his arm and saw four long ugly red scratches running down his arm. She shrugged. She had inflicted worse before.
"Your lucky you still have your arm," she whispered for only him to hear.
He looked at her as if she could really cut his arm off only with her nails. "Like you could really cut my arm off! As if! That's impossible!" He said, his voice loud enough that the teacher turned around towards where they sat.
