______Chapter 6: Date Night
“Hey!” Connor says when I walk out of the door. I smile, “Hey. You know we don’t have to go out if you don’t really want to, right?” He just looked at me and smiles. So I get in and he backs out.
When I look up we are pulling into the cemetery. “Why are we here?” I nervously ask. “I’m meeting your mom.” He grabs my hand and reassuringly squeezes it. I open my door and step out. Connor comes around and holds my waist. “Guide the way.” He tells me, kissing my head.
I walk us through the gates and to the far left. It’s almost as if my mothers stone is buried into my head.
“I haven’t really been here since the funeral.” I say. “You have me here with you.” Connors looks me in the eye then turns his head. “But I can’t get the sight of her lifeless body laying in front of me out of my head.” I begin to cry. He grabs me and holds me tight. “It’s okay, we can leave if you want?” He asks. I shake my head no. Then I see it.
Here lies Macy Wattson, proud wife and loving mother.
Another tear escapes my eye. Connor squeezes my hand again.
“Hello Mrs.Wattson, I’m Connor. It is nice to finally speak to you.” He awkwardly says to her name. He didn’t plan this very well, and I feel bad for laughing at him.
“I wanted to do something, right here in front of you,” He turns and grabs my hands.
“Amber, from the first day I saw you I have always taken interest. From a distance. And when I started talking to you, I realized there was nothing I wanted more than your kiss every morning before class, and every afternoon before I leave your side. And… I love you. I need you. Will you be mine?”
I couldn’t wipe the smile off my face. “Of course.” I put my hands on the side of his face and pull him into a kiss. It was like I’ve been longing for his lips on mine for eons. We stayed there for a while, foreheads pushed together.
Another car pulls in, a mother and daughter walk out. Like me and my mother, hand in hand. But mine faded away. Right in front of me.
Connor takes my hand and we walk back to the car. He twirls me and pulls me into an embrace. He mumbles his love for me when he buries his face into my neck. I feel his hand go under my chin, turning my face his way. “I love you.” He whispers. “I love you too…” I sob.
We drive away, I watch my mothers grave fade away in the distance. Connor places his hand on my thigh. “That went well.” He grins from ear to ear. “I know.” I nod.
“I miss her.” I break the silence in the car. “She seems like a great gal.” He told me. “She was. She really was.” I fade out, checking the time.
8:13pm.
“Uhm I have to be home at 9.” I say. “I talked to your dad. You don’t have curfew tonight. Maybe you just won’t go home.” He winks.
It’s like this boy is my happy place. My escape from the world. He makes me feel like everything is okay. And I’m starting to think everything will be.
Then we pull into the city park. Before I can get out, Connor practically falls out of his side to open my door. He grabs my waist and hoists me out, putting my legs around his torso. He pushes me against the side of the car and presses his lips to my collar bone. He travels up my neck until he is on my soft spot planting light kisses around it, causing me to moan. He nips and my ear and kisses me.
I think we can all say that yes, I’m a virgin. And I have no clue what’s going on right now. I just go with the flow.
He opens the back door and lays me in the seats. I wrap my arms around his neck while he slides my shirt off my shoulders. He kisses down my stomach and looks at me with pleading eyes when he gets to my skirt. I arch my body and he pulls it off, along with everything else. His hand goes to his back pocket and he pulls out a square gold foil packet. I already know where this is going, and I’m terrified.
When he’s done sliding it on, I bite my lip and close my eyes. They say the first three times always hurt. And pain just isn’t my thing. Before I could prepare myself I felt pressure and a pinch. I stifled a screech of pain, and he stifled a moan. Funny how there’s good and bad in this situation. This went on for about 10 minutes before he fell on top of me breathing heavily, and I didn’t notice I was holding a breath in until I let it go.
We clean up before speaking. “I’m sorry if I hurt you..” He looked at me. “It hurt, really bad. But I gave the last thing I had to you, and that makes me feel fine.” I say, grabbing his hand. “That’s a story to tell… Losing your virginity in the backseat of your boyfriends car in a park.” He laughs. I laugh with him and he starts up the car. “Is that what your plan was tonight?” I ask a couple minutes into the drive. “No. I just got into the moment when you said you loved me back, and I just… I dunno. I love you.” He stutters a little bit. “I love you more than you know…” I mumble to myself.
We pull into his driveway and get out. When I try to get on the ground it hurts to much to move. “Baaabbbeee!! I need you.” I whine. He comes and picks me up.
I started to bleed so I took a bath and wore one of Connors shirts. When I wobbled into the bedroom he opened his arms and I laid directly on top of him. “Round two?” I know he was joking, so I playfully hit his arm. I turned to my side next to him and he put his chin on top of my head. “Goodnight my love..” He whispered. And then I fell asleep.
