“Because I…” He paused. Now I’m nervous. Because you what? Just spit it out! I scream inside my head. “I think I like you…” He finished off, blushing. He turned his head and walked away. “Wait!” I tried to get him to stop and come back but he was already in his car and leaving.

That night I lay in bed, waiting for a text message from him. Nothing. But I don’t understand. He’s my best friend. Why is he falling for a girl like me? Then I look back, to the day he first took me out. He wouldn’t stop looking at me. Whenever I smiled and turned away he would blush and look down at his hands. There was never a time where our hands were disconnected, he was always holding it.

On a bad day he was always here to comfort me, holding me closer. But after admitting that, why was he avoiding me? Did he think I didn’t feel the same way? Do I feel the same way?
