(Dipper pov)

Two years ago

Carrying my clipboard I walk up to my patient's door, using my keycard to unlock the door as I walk in, him already sitting at the table wearing a straight jacket and biting his bottom lip like he does whenever he gets anxious. "Good morning Bill, I hope the night nurses treated you well after I left yesterday." He looks up as I sit across from him, a smile breaking across his face. "You know you shouldn't bite your lip Bill."

"I know I know Dr. Pines, I just get anxious sitting here waiting for you everyday."

"I've told you a million times Bill, just call me Dipper. "

"Old habits die hard I guess."

"Oh I just remembered that I got you something." I reach into the pocket of my doctor coat and pull out a small yellow triangle plushie. "I saw this in the gift shop this morning and it made me think of you." I put it on the table, feeling a small blush on my face.

"It's adorable. I love it. Thank you Dr-I mean thank you Dipper." I smile hearing him say my name for once.

"I think you are doing much better Bill. I made an appointment with the judge from your trial and am going to talk to him about having a hearing so you can be released."

"Really? You think I'm ready?"

"You have been trapped in here for years and these last few months I have made more progress with you than any of the other doctors who gave up. I believe you are more than ready." I hear my phone ringing in my pocket. I take it out and look at it.

"Who is it? Someone important?" I hear a hint of jealousy in his tone.

"Relax Bill, it's just my mom. I need to step out to answer this but I'll be right back, I promise." I stand up and peck him on the lips before walking out of the room closing the door and answering the call as I walk down the hallway. "Hey mom."

"Hey Mason, how are you doing? Work going okay?"

"Everything is fine mom. What's the real reason you called?"

"I...I'm sory to do this Mason but I'm going to have to cancel dinner plans tonight. Your sister is getting out of rehab tonight and I'm preparing the house so she can stay here until she gets on her feet."

"Alright. Tell dad I said hi."

"Want me to tell Mabel you said hi as well?"

"I'll tell her in person if she ever decides to stay clean for once."

"Mason, aren't you being a bit hard on her? She's going through a lot with losing the baby and the divorce."

"That was two years ago, right when she dropped out of school. Besides it was her own drinking and drug problems that killed the baby. That guy did her a favor by leaving her, so she can't fuck up his life too."

"Mason don't talk about her like that, she just made a few mistakes and needs our help getting on her feet."

"Mom she isn't a little kid who threw a rock through a window, she is a teenager who is acting like an idiot and drinking herself nearly to death and has overdosed herself 5 times now. I'm not on speaking terms with her until she decides she truly wants to get better. If you want to waste time with her then be my guest, I'll just reschedule dinner for whenever she gets put back into rehab again." I set my clipboard down on the counter at the nurses station and sigh putting my phone back in my pocket.
