I see the cup half empty
You see it half full
I see a world bathed in darkness
You see it glimmering light
Anything but dullI see the demons that lurk in the shadows
You see the angels that fly high up above
I hear the screams and wails of agony
You hear the applause of praise and love
I saw the world for what it was
Dark, dreary, and fucked up
No second chances
Or benefit of the doubt for us
You saw it through rose-colored glasses
All dolled up
Every day an opportunity to clean your act upI saw the horrors of the world
And so did you
Why are we so different?
Why do you have hope when we both should have lost her long ago? While I drowned
You swam
But you stopped to grab my hand
Pulled me out of my despair
And into your adoring glance
I'm your voice of reason
You're my only hope
The realist
And the dreamer
We may be different
Worlds apart even
But that's the language of our love
How unforeseen
How truly peculiar of us
