~~~Brandon~~~
"Brandon, can you go to the human mall for more lip gloss?" My girlfriend of three years calls from the bathroom. She was a werewolf and was naturally beautiful yet she still chooses to wear make-up.
"Why the human mall? There's a perfectly good mall in the pack square." I tried to reason. Every time she got make-up, she'd go to the human mall and I never understood why.
She just laughed at me, the sound echoing off the tile walls. "The humans have better make-up." I rolled my eyes at her but stood up to go anyway. Mikayla wasn't my mate but I liked to think she was. I knew some of my pack members didn't like me being with her because she isn't their rightful Luna. Of course, when I find my mate, Mikayla and I will have to talk. When we'd first begun dating, she had said that when I find my mate, she would step back and let me be with whoever the "lucky" girl is or so Mikayla had put it. Honestly, I didn't know if I could do that.
Grabbing my car keys, I stepped out of my house, which was more like a mansion, and got in my car for the quick ride to the human side of my pack. When my grandfather was Alpha, he'd decided that the pack wolves should learn to live around humans.
Quickly pulling into the parking lot of the mall, I walked in and went towards the section of the store labeled "Women's Beauty Products." Most of the women there looked at me in awe as I got the same lip gloss Mikayla always wears. It was a little odd until I saw from the men's faces that the looks were because I was actually getting my girl make-up without being ashamed. Although I had been to the human side before, I hadn't really noticed how much different it was. At our mall, it didn't matter because the men always did this for their mates.
I was on my way to the checkout when the most amazing scent hit me. It was a strong scent of lavender and orchids that made my mouth nearly water. The smell was enough to drive me crazy. Following it, I came to a stop near the middle of the store.
Instantly, my eyes spotted a beautiful girl with long blonde hair. When she turned around, her mesmerizingly bright blue eyes caught my dark brown ones. My wolf whispered one word to me that I was so excited to hear. 'Mate'
My wolf began trying to connect with hers. Smiling, my mate walked closer to me. I furrowed my brows when my wolf whined. 'Something's wrong. I can't connect to her.' I sniffed the air around us, pushing her scent away. Impossible. She's human.
Wolves and humans can't be mates. 'She can't be human, though. Not only is it not possible but she knows we're her mate.' My wolf and I both stood there confused while my mate looked at us sadly before her eyes drifted down to my hands. A frown overtook her stunning face before a few tears threatened to fall from her gorgeous eyes.
Before I could even ask her what's wrong, she ran off to the other side of the store, leaving me frozen to the floor. That was when I looked down while my wolf announced my very thoughts. 'Mikayla's make-up.'
