~~~Lexia~~~
"Lexia, it's time to get up. I made breakfast." Carla called into my bedroom. What? Before I opened my eyes, I sniffed the air and realized that she was telling the truth. I wasn't sure whether I should be happy or scared. Carla was never one to cook. In the year and a half we've lived here, I was the one that made each meal if we hadn't already eaten out somewhere.
Carefully, I lifted myself out of bed and walked towards the kitchen, not bothering to change out of my pajamas. As soon as I stepped foot into the kitchen, I wished I'd stayed in bed. Of course, there was no way Carla would cook for no reason.
Sitting right across from where I usually sat at the table, was Brandon. He looked up at me when he sensed I was standing there and smiled. All I could do was stare at him and try to decide who I should strangle first: Carla for letting him in or him for even being alive. "Carla, can I speak to you for a minute?" I kept my voice normal although I really wanted to scream at her. Though, no matter how much I wanted to, she was still just a human that had no idea who he was or why he was really here.
She looked at me curiously by I didn't take my gaze off Brandon. "Sure." Finally breaking my eyes from him, I looked at her and pointed my thumb outside. Carla walked out first and I followed. She stopped right outside the door but I shook my head and walked further. She may not think he can hear us there but I know better. We stopped just at the edge of the woods.
"What did you want to talk to me about?" From the corner of my eye, I could see Brandon stand in front of the window looking out at us.
"Why is he here?" I pointed at him and Carla looked over at the window surprised. He waved at her and she smiled and waved back. 'Oh goddess. She likes him.' My wolf shuddered at the thought.
"He said you two were old friends and that he wanted to catch up. It was the first time I've seen anyone come here for you so I welcomed him in. I mean, we've lived here for nearly two years and only now someone shows up? I thought you'd like to see him again." My wolf laughed. 'Old friend. Neither of them know how true that is.' I rolled my eyes internally.
'Yeah. Great friends until his parents stepped in.' "Look, I know you were trying to look out for me, but letting someone in just because they say they know me, isn't going to do any good. There's a reason why me and him are no longer friends. I don't want you getting involved in anything he's trying to do." She nodded, at least half understanding what I meant.
Carla wrapped an arm around my shoulders and walked us back with a goofy smile on her face. I shook my head at her childishness. It was honestly hard to believe that this girl was nearly three years older than me. Looking back at the window where Brandon had been standing, I found nothing there and assumed he had gone back to his seat at the table.
Letting Carla walk in ahead of me, I stopped at the door and laid my head against the wall and closed my eyes. 'I can't go in there. What if I slip up? He doesn't know what happened that day.'
'Do you remember what the spell said?' My wolf answered. What did the spell have to do with anything?
'Yeah, but what good is it to me?' I could here shuffling behind the closed door. Brandon was waiting for me to go inside.
'ivkzri gsv nvnlib zg gsv olev lu z nzgv' I was confused for a second before I recognized that as part of the spell the Luna had used on Brandon. 'Do you remember what that means?' Yes.
Finally walking inside, I went straight to the kitchen. "What took you so long, Lex?" Carla asked while tearing a piece off her pancake. She always used her hands to eat pancakes.
