Chapter 15: Biggest surprise of them all

Brielle: August 15th 2017

Today is our last day in Ontario before we head home. I am very sad to say goodbye to my family but it's only a short plane right back to see them, and I'm sure Cain is going to insist on taking me lots. For our last day we decided to drive into Toronto, Cain and I will stay at a hotel tonight since our flight takes off early from Toronto and my family lives an hour outside in a small town. My sister insists on going to the butterfly sanctuary today. I'm trying to hold back my excitement a little so I don't look like I tool in front of Cain but I am soooo excited! Every summer my parents would take my sister and I to the Toronto zoo, we would spend hours spinning around with the butterflies. The fact I'm coming here with the love of my life almost makes me cry happy tears.

Before we hit the road to the zoo I run into my room to change and see that Cain has laid out yet another new dress for me. He is so damn cute. He knows how much I love sundresses and he picks the perfect ones for me. This one is beautiful, probably my favourite which is weird because it's pink and I don't typically like pink but something about this dress makes me love it. It's light pink with a nice slit down the side, it's flowy and beautiful! My favourite part is the sleeves which hang perfectly off my shoulder. Once I have my hair and makeup done and my dress on I look in the mirror and almost don't recognize myself... I look so... happy. I don't remember the last time I was this happy. Maybe never?

I head downstairs and everyone is sitting on the couch. "You look so pretty!!" My sister squeals, which draws Cains eyes in my direction. His jaw drops. Usually he would say something like holy fuck or Jesus Christ but since he's around my parents I can tell he's trying to bite his tongue. He stands up and walk over to me, "you look beautiful", he gasps, "and you look handsome as fuck" I wink at him which makes everyone giggle.

We head to Toronto in my dads truck, we make it to the zoo around 3pm. It is a gorgeous summer day, and I'm with my favourite people in the world, I couldn't be happier. My sister and I giggle like I am 12 years old again as we walk through the zoo past all the cool animals but we only really care about one thing... the butterflies! Once we walk in my sister and I both ooo and aww like it's the first time we've seen it. This time is special though... this is the first time I've been here since Daniel... I missed out on my families last Toronto trip.

We admire all the butterflies and beautiful plants scattered around the sanctuary. Cain and I haven't let go of hands once since we got out of the truck. Actually no that's a lie... we held hands in the truck too. But he lets go of my hand which makes me sad but I act like it doesn't bother me. He falls behind a little and I walk ahead with my sister. We approach a beautiful river that must be new. It flows through the whole sanctuary. It's perfect for a picture! I pull up my camera which is constantly strapped around my neck when I'm out and about. I snap a few pictures of the river, then suddenly a unique looking purple butterfly lands on my finger. When I turn around to show Cain he is down on one knee holding a purple velvet box.

"Oh my god!" I slap my hand over my mouth in shock. Behind Cain I see my parents and my sister watching us with tears in their eyes. I look back down at the love of my life. Butterflies are flying all around him, one even lands on the velvet box for a second. He opens the box revealing the most stunning diamond ring I have ever seen. "Brielle Mae Hollis, I know we haven't known each other long but baby I know you are the one for me. I've never clicked with someone so well in my entire life. You have this incredible sparkle inside you, despite all the horrible things that have happened. You are my dream girl princess and I need you forever. Please marry me?" He asks confidently. I instantly drop to my knees in front of him crying. "Yes! Holy fuck yes! I love you so much!" I grab his face and give him a wet kiss full of happy tears. He stands up still holding onto me and spins me around making me squeal. "I love you with all my heart, I'm going to spend the rest of my life proving that to you" he says before kissing me again.

After kissing and spinning around like love struck fools for a while he sets me down. I look around and notice about 50 strangers all clapping and cheering for us. Cain pulls me into him and we walk over to my family. My sister jumps into my arms crying, "I'm so happy for you!" I smile down at her, "did you tell him about my dream when we were kids?" I ask her, "maybeeee" she giggles. "Thank you, I love you" I pull her in and squeeze her until she's gasping for air and begging me to let go. My mom and dad come over and hug me next, "he's perfect", my mom whispers in my ear. "He is a very good man", my dad agrees. Which means a lot because my dad just like any dad is very protective. He was heartbroken when he seen his baby girl being taken from him from a monster like Daniel. But he knows that Cain is incredible. He treats me like a princess.

My sister and I admire my ring the whole ride back to the hotel. My other hand is in Cains of course. The ring is absolutely stunning, unique, just like our relationship. I've never seen anything like it but it some how suits me perfectly just like all the dresses Cain has bought me. "Did you help him pick it out?" I ask my sister, "nope that was all him", she says. I look up at Cain who is smiling proudly.

We make it back to the hotel and now it's time to say goodbye to my family... I'm already choking back tears but I'm trying not to fall apart in front of my little sister. "I love you so much dear. Come visit again soon" my mom squeezes me tight. "Love you kiddo, see you again soon" dad hugs me goodbye, "I'm going to miss you so much", my sister cries when I pull her into a hug. "I'll be back soon I promise. I love you so much". I squeeze her tight one last time before standing up and grabbing Cains hand again. "Love you guys" I wave them off with tears streaming down my face.

Once we get back to the hotel Cain runs us a bath in our jacuzzi tub. He even turns on an episode of greys anatomy because the tv is right in front of the tub. I lean back against my naked mans chest as he runs his rough hands down my body. I can't stop staring at my ring, I can't believe I'm marrying Cain! "I love you so much. I can't believe you want to marry me", I tell him in awe. "I can't wait to spend my life with you", he squeezes me from behind. "So I was thinking, if you don't like Calgary... you know if it makes you think of that fuck head too much, well we could move", he shrugs. "Seriously? What about your job?" I spin around in the tub to face him. "Baby I'm the boss. I own the company, I can take work wherever I want to go, I could take it to Ontario, hell I could take it to fuckin Mexico if that's what my girl wants", he tells me with his signature smug smirk. "You are just full of surprises aren't you?" I lean up and give him a kiss. "Oh baby you just wait and see... I'm going to be surprising you for the rest of our lives".
