The Plan- part 1

Our backs suddenly turned as the large red door swiftly opened, "are you ready guys?" I asked calmly. Everyone nodded as they put their backpacks on and prepared themselves, "Tewksbury how are you going to stay here without making Brenner suspicious?" I asked him with a worried tone. Tewksbury looked over to me and replied "he still thinks I'm working for him" Tewksbury said in a cunning way. "Guys this way" Tewksbury said as he motioned us through the door. We all followed him down the white tiled corridor till we came to a restricted area. We made our way through the plastic sheet which was hung up and had a hazardous sign. The atmosphere had completely changed, the elongated corridor was pitch black and small particles of dust wafted in the air. I shivered as we went down the corridor to our fate, we approached a huge, metal door which had multiple locks. Tewksbury swiped a key card on the door and it automatically opened, he carefully pushed us through the door, and we came to a control center. Multiple buttons flashed vigorously, and Tewksbury opened the lift door, he held Millie's hand and pulled us into the lift. "You know what to do" Tewksbury said as he walked out the room and disappeared.

   I shivered uncontrollably, my teeth chattered, and I felt my face turn pale as the lift moved down. Noah opened up my rucksack and handed me a jacket, "here babe, Tewksbury told us there was jackets in the bag" Noah said as he zipped up my rucksack and held my hand. "Thanks" I said as I gave him a quick kiss on the cheek, and we all walked out of the lift towards the entrance to the upside down. I put my jacket on and gripped onto Noah's hand before we made or way through the thick slime and vines in the entrance. "Eww! I just got a manicure last week!" Millie squealed as she dusted herself off. I smiled as I pulled some vines off my hair and noticed Noah's bowl cut was covered in slime. I laughed and pulled the slime off his hair, Noah chuckled and shivered as we stood in the complete darkness of the upside down.

"So where to?" I questioned as I looked around seeing nothing but the outline of tree's and a grey mist which hung in the air. "I don't know but let's get our flashlights out" Millie responded as she unzipped her bag and took out three flashlights then gave one to each of us. As we switched them on, they uncontrollably flickered, there was some loud howls of noise that distracted us and my torch just stopped completely. Noah had some light out of his and Millie's was flickering on and off, just the same as the lights in the corridor had earlier. We stood there, not moving and not saying a word as Noah shone his torch around. We could see in the distance, to our right and behind the shadows of trees a very faint light. As if by force of nature we all proceeded to head towards the faint light in silence. As we came nearer, we saw the outline of a large building, which we all recognized. "That's Hawkins Middle School" shouted Noah.

None of us reacted, we remained silent as we could see no cars, no people just lights on in the school. It was all so eerie and scary. "We need to get to the Lab" said Millie, "I know the way like the back of my hands from here" replied Noah as we all started running toward the Library and then down the street past Dustin's house. "Doesn't anyone want to know why the lights are on at the school?" I said as they both turned to me and shook their heads. I couldn't help looking back at the school, focusing my eyes on the lights as they faded the further, we ran, why would they be on if no one is here? I thought to myself. I finally turned my gaze, picked up pace and ran after Noah and Mills. I couldn't get it out of my head, no lights on anywhere else, just buildings recognizable from the set but now covered in vines. It didn't make sense to me and as we got closer to the lab it was even weirder, we could see no lights on there too. In the distance the horrible lab could be seen through trees and vines, but it was dark. "Stop guys, is this a trick" I shouted.

"Y/N you could be right, but we all know Tewkesbury said to find Brenner in the lab" said Millie, and she continued "perhaps the lights on at the school were meant to send us there, that could have been a trap". We all stopped running a stood a few hundred meters away from the lab entrance. "Decision time" said Noah. "Either we go in the lab and see what we can find, or we go back to the school" continued Noah. "I vote we go in the Lab" said Millie as Noah started slowly walking forward. Let's hope their right I though as we need to go in the lab I knew, but I still couldn't get the lights at school out of my head. "Ok I know Y/N wants to go to the school, but can I text Tewksbury to see if it's a trick?" Millie said. I nodded as I watched Mills take her phone out, we all stopped walking and stood still with the light from her phone illuminating Millie's face as she typed:

"Sorry Y/N he says it's a trick" Millie said in her thick British accent. I nodded and looked down at my shoes, Noah looked over at me and grabbed my hand "it's ok, I was curious too" He said sweetly. We all made our way to the Lab but this time there was no automatic door. "How do we get in?" I asked as Noah shrugged his shoulders. "Move!" Millie screamed as she kicked the door down, "like that" She smiled as she glided through the doors and we rushed after her.
