I saw the sedan parked at the premises, and I saw my friends coming out. I rose and greeted them. My friend's names were Jackie, Suresh, Anil and Akash. They were my colleagues, and they were my selected friend's who were trustworthy, and we were fancy sharing.
After our old talks, I told them about the woman, and reciprocating our love for each other. I told them that, she had expressed her love for me, which I didn't have the courage to speak out. They were astonished, and looking at each other, I was flabbergasted, and I convinced them that I was telling the truth. There expression was like, I was telling a dissertation, I was confused looking at them, as they looked confused, and it was reflecting in me. I thought they need to stand down after a long travel.
I told them, "Guys, I am serious... Wait!!! I shall call her." I called her, but there was no response, and then, I turned to my friends, and exclaimed, "Gosh!!! She wanted to give y'all a surprise, but now she is frolicking around." I went among the trees, where she was hidden, but to my astonishment, there was no one out there. I was getting a tad peevish at her, though I had love for her, but the playtime is over, and we need to get sombre, and publish the good news to our friends. I shouted for her, but there was none. My friends huddled behind me; I gasped, and conversed, "Guys!! She was here; you know I don't play practical jokes." I was regressed by it, after a while, I saw my friends looking at each other, and there was thingamabob, perhaps, I haven't seen them sober. Whatchamacallit they were hiding from me?? Is there something serious?? And there were many questions rolling in my mind. I was getting plateau, and then, Jackie stepped in, he placed his hand on my left shoulder, and gave a slight pressure on it. He uttered in a low voice, "I know you won't tell jokes, and I wanna say, things are not the way we think, and after we parted ways, there are many things happened here." He took his hands off me, and took a breath, and he uttered in sober tone, "One year ago she was suffering from terminal disease, and she passed away." I was in utter shock, I roared, "No!! No!!! This is not true, this can't be." I was shocked to hear, it seem that my life was pushed in a dark depths of unknown. There was nothing good I felt now. Jackie continued, "I am sorry my friend but it's true. I came to know from one of my friends, we all went to see her in hospital." I exclaimed, "Alas!!! I couldn't talk to her, I was such a lousy guy, and this was what I deserved." Jackie replied, "My friend, I don't have consoling words, I understand your feelings, and we all were there during her last breath." I looked at him with blank expression, as he continued, "The day she passed away, she continued reciting your name, as if she wanted to meet you. Her Father was confused, and I was confused too." I was dumbfounded listening to it, Jackie continued, "We were listening to her, and I told her that, you are alright and working. After listening to it, she slept forever. Her father asked about you, and we told everything about you." I listened to everything dumbfounded, Suresh, Anil and Akash told that, they were present during that dismal hour, and they too told about her. I felt that there was an intrusion in my happiness, there was nothing to be conversed more. I was in no mood of celebration, and they unstated it. My friends asked me to come with them. However, I refused to go, and said that, I will go after a while. They retired to their homes, while I was left behind looking at the factory.
I looked at the factory, falling into the reminiscence of my old love, the first time we looked at each other, on that beautiful Thursday, and the Friday, we have our last look, and that was our last look when she was alive. Today is the day, when we looked at each other, and confessed our love for each other. I was not lucky in love, and perhaps this was my fate. I wasn't plucky enough to express my feeling when we were together, and now I am powerless. As the sun began to wheel down, I fell into oblivion.
