Annalise's pov
I said goodbye to everyone, and then started to walk to the cafe. I had gotten my car with work, so when I had had my badge and gun taken away, that got taken too. Last night and this morning, Rosie had driven me everywhere, but I didn't think that was the best idea for when I'm going to meet Adrian.
When I got there, I saw him already sat at a corner table, waving me over.
"Hey," I said, kind of nervously. Adrian tried to kiss me, but I flinched away, confusing him.
"Annalise what's going on?" He asked.
"Adrian, there's something I need to tell you," I said and he looked at me expectantly. "I'm sorry, I can't come to LA with you."
"This is because of Rosie isn't it? You said that I didn't have to worry about him! You lied to me Annalise! And now you're leaving me for him," Adrian snapped angrily. I didn't know what reaction I had been expecting, but it definitely wasn't this. I had never seen Adrian get this angry.
"Adrian, I can explain," I said quietly.
"Really? Because I don't think there's anything to explain," he said, glaring at me.
"Please let me explain," I whispered, kind of scared now. I used to deal with criminals and serial killers everyday, but here I am scared of my now ex-boyfriend.
"No! You lied to me Annalise, and do you know something? I don't like liars. I especially don't like liars who worm their way into my life only to leave me for a stupid pathologist," he yelled.
And then he did something that I sure as hell wasn't expecting. He reached into his back pocket and pulled out a gun, pointing it at me. Instinctively, I reached to my belt to get my gun, but then remembered that I didn't have one anymore.
"Damn it," I muttered under my breath.
"Adrian, put the gun down, please," I begged him, louder now. I looked around to see terrified civilians running from the cafe. Usually, I would have this under control in an instant, but now there wasn't much I could do, except hope that Adrian wouldn't actually shoot me.
"That's not going to happen. You really should've thought of this before you picked Rosie over me. Or maybe even before you started dating me even though you had feelings for him," he shouted.
I took a deep breath, trying not to panic. I've had guns pointed at me more times than I can count, but this time is different. Because usually I have my own gun pointed at whoever is pointing a gun at me, and because usually the person with the gun isn't my ex of a day.
I looked around me, trying to think like a cop, rather than an unarmed civilian. I saw a steak knife on the table next to us, and decided that that was my only choice. It was the closet thing to a weapon that I could get hold of, so it'll have to do.
Quickly, without hesitating, I made a move. I lunged towards the other table, grabbing the steak knife. When I moved, I heard a gunshot, but I managed to dodge the bullet.
"Put the knife down!" Adrian ordered but I shook my head.
"Why would I do that? How about you put the gun down Adrian, then I'll put the knife down. Then we can talk," I suggested.
"I don't want to talk to you, ever again," he yelled.
Out of the corner of my eye, I saw unmarked police cars pulling up outside the cafe. I breathed a sigh of relief; now I only have to avoid getting shot for a few minutes until they get inside.
"Screw this," I muttered, not loud enough for Adrian to hear me.
I was going to have to move fast.
I threw the knife to the floor and then threw a punch at Adrian. I then managed to wrestle him to the ground, kicking the gun as far away as possible.
"Get off of me," he yelled as I pulled his hands behind his back and twisted them.
A few moments later, Slade and Hornstock came running in.
"East Miami PD, drop your weapons," they shouted, and then looked surprised to see me holding Adrian to the floor.
"Villa? Adrian?" Hornstock said, confused.
"Yeah, I got it under control now," I said, smiling sarcastically at them.
"What the hell happened?" Slade asked.
"Let's just say I told him something he didn't want to hear. He wanted me to go to LA with him but I just told him I changed my mind. Then he pulled a gun out at me," I explained as they put him in cuffs and took him outside.
I said bye to Slade and Hornstock, and then started to walk back to Rosie's lab. When I got there, him and Pippy were stood by the autopsy table.
"Ugh I need a hug," I said as I walked down the stairs. They both turned around to look at me, and then Rosie held his arms open for me to hug him. I leant my head on his chest and he put his arms around me.
"Okay what happened because last time I checked Annalise Villa doesn't do hugs," Pippy joked and I pulled away so I was standing between them.
"Well, my ex boyfriend just held a gun at me and I had to wrestle it off of him because I didn't have my own gun because I got my badge taken away because I refused to shoot my own brother so I think I'm allowed a hug," I said all in one breath.
"Wow, yeah, okay. I think you deserve two hugs at least then, come here," Pippy said, hugging me. As I hugged her back, I looked over her shoulder at Rosie.
"Adrian tried to shoot you?" He said in disbelief and anger.
"Yup. He wasn't too pleased about my decision," I said, as I pulled out of the hug.
"What decision?" Pippy asked, confused.
"Should we tell her?" I whispered to Rosie.
"Yeah, but let's go somewhere else so that nobody else hears," he said, and we dragged Pippy outside. TMI, Donna and Mitchie were all inside still, so there was no way they could eavesdrop on us.
"Soo what's going on?" Pippy asked.
