"S-SORO, are you..." (Y/n) said, still in disbelieve on SORO's invitation and revelation, which he... err, she just did, as the latter is feeling shy after doing so.
"While I look like a male CAST, I'm actually a female this whole time." She explained in a low voice, still feeling uneasy after revealing herself.
"But, your voice..."
"I'm... one of the very few that has a voice changer... built in." She said, but with a hint that she's hiding something. (Y/n) then closes his eyes and thinks,
"And the reason why you reveal yourself now... is because you're getting jealous?" He deducted, which SORO nods.
"You're my first friend that I ever have since... three years ago. Seeing you getting along with other CASTs even though you're a human... it really brings back old... painful memories." She said. (Y/n) then sits on the bed, patting beside him.
"Do you want to talk about it?" He said, feeling reminded of SORO doing the same thing with his dreams, and she goes sitting next to him as she begins to explain her past.
SORO's POV, Flashback,
It was three years ago, when back then, I was a human girl working for ARKS. I was known to be a bit too... tomboy, for the lack of better term- record scratch
"Wait, you were a human?!" (Y/n) interrupted after I revealed my old self, which is understandable.
"Yes... It's the reason why I accepted being your friend back then..." I then continue my retelling.
Back to her flashback,
Everyone sees me as one of the most impressive Sword Hunter among all operators, even rivaling the Guardians themselves. I was quite proud of how I was back then, maybe a bit too cocky.
In a one particular day, I was tasked to accompany a human rookie on exploring a planet named Lillipa, a desert planet where Automatas continues to operate alone. Our expedition were a bit rocky, due to him still being a rookie, but we managed to reach the second underground base. Until...
[Emergency Code! Attack!]
A horde of Falspawns swarms the field that we're in. While I can destroy them without any effort, the rookie... is more or less screwed. I know the code ordered us to destroy all of them, but looking at him, he's shaking in his boots. So I took the risk and order him to run back to the Gateship.
"But what about you?!" He asked as he looked at me,
"Just go!" I ordered, and he reluctantly runs away. As I keep slashing and backing away to join him, I heard a scream. Knowing who was screaming, I quickly run back to the Gateship. It then see the Rookie being surrounded by humanoid Automatas surrounding him. Despite the Dagans behind me, I destroyed the Automatas and grabbed him, continuing to run away. While running, I hear him muttering in fear.
"I'msorryI'msorryI'msorryI'msorry..."
"Don't worry, kiddo. Once we're back to the Gateship, we're abandoning this quest immediately." I assured him, but it did little to calm him. Regardless, we're nearing the Telepipe that leads to the Gateship. However...
"GAH!" I turned around and see the Rookie getting pulled by a new Falspawn that none of us know, and it's pulling him towards its mouth. Horrified, I waste no time and launched a sword beam towards it, slashing many of its appendages and managed to free him. I keep on fighting as he tries to run back towards the Telepipe. Just as he teleports into the Gateship however, three stray Sparzile lunges towards me and wraps itself around me, fully in self-destruct mode, before...
Boom!
I was off-guard... I never expect to notice them, and sudden too. I quickly losing consciousness, thinking that it'll be the end of me. The last thing I see before getting unconscious, is the two familiar teleport ring in front of me...
The incident quickly took the news by storm, and ARKS declared a thorough investigation on the planet. The rookie is then asked by the higher ups, and is ordered to recover himself, mentally and physically.
As for me... I woke up in a white room, where I assume that it's the medical room. I tried to move my body, but it feels strange. When I look at my hand, it was then that I learned a horrible news. The blast destroyed most of my body, and the officers and even the Admiral decided that I should converted into a CAST in order to keep me alive. Of course, being converted means that I'll lose my memories, but the Admiral recorded all of my important memories of being an ARKS Op and some of my personal memories, and implanted into my memory bank. Everyone is surprised at my new look, but I still don't know why the officers turned me into a male CAST despite being a girl. Regardless, they're relieved that I'm still alive.
As for the Rookie... I've never seen him ever since. I guess the whole incident shook him so much that he never wanted to do another quest ever again.
Back to Third POV,
As SORO finished telling her story, one question emerges from (Y/n)'s mind.
"Then why are you in Megalo High? Is it because of your guilt?" He asked,
"Yes... but also because that I'm a CAST now, I have to relearn everything in order to get used to my new body." SORO answered while clenching her fist.
"SORO..." (Y/n) empathized while holding her hand.
"Ever since I came here, I always distance myself so no one would try to find out about my past. That is until you came..." She then faces him, "Even if you're going to leave this world soon, I want to enjoy every moment that we spend together, which is why I asked you to go on a date tomorrow."
As the two look at each other, (Y/n) snickers while looking away.
"I think we can hold of the date..." (Y/n) said before facing back to her face, "And instead turn it into a hangout session together."
"But, you and Risa..." SORO said as she's confused after seeing their encounter before leaving, but (Y/n) shakes his head and chuckles.
"Now that I think about it, it's less of a date and more of a hangout session. I guess that since she was too excited of having me here, she doesn't really understand what dating really is." He explained.
"Is that so... Well, I'm glad." SORO sighs in relief. The two then looks at the view outside together.
"Guess we're going to the carnival tomorrow." (Y/n) said.
"Then I'm looking forward for tomorrow, friend." SORO said, with (Y/n) nodding in agreement. While the two are having a sight seeing, (Y/n) asked another question.
"By the way, how do you know about Isekai?" He asked,
"That's... a secret." SORO answered with a 'shush' motion, prompting (Y/n) to chuckle.
"Well, I don't mind if you're a geek anyway!"
A bit of Timeskip,
It's late at Megalo City, and while (Y/n) is fast asleep with his ticket laying beside him, SORO is still awake, looking at the night scenery. After some time, she clenches her head before pulling it, revealing that it's a helmet as her short blonde hair is loosen up while her green eyes being reflected by the window.
"Maybe one day, I'll show my true self to you. Can't wait for tomorrow, though."
(I already planned that SORO is actually a female wearing a male armor this whole time, but I later realized that I unintentionally wrote her kinda like Jun from Princess Connect: Re Dive!, same principal and all. Also, the real identity of SORO was originally an original character, but a flash of idea quickly change her identity as a last minute change. As always, I hope you guys enjoyed, and Peace Out!~)
