Almost everyone's eyes were on Lane Monday morning. The entire school knew what happened on Friday because it was the only traumatic event that has happened to the city in a very long time.

The school halls were silent. The only noise was coming from Lanes crutches squeaking against the freshly mopped floors.

Lane never liked being the center of attention. So many things could always go wrong. She could slip, get judged, or say something she didn't mean out of nervousness.

Lane traveled to her locker as fast as she could but she could feel everyone's eyes staring her down. And their whispers. They weren't even good at hiding the fact they were spreading rumors right in front of her face! Luckily Lane got to her locker and picked up her stuff before anyone could ask any questions. She then hopped off to go to the first class of the day, Social Studies.

The day went by fairly smoothly after Lanes arrival at school. I mean it was a little rocky going up and down the stairs, but she made it work.

At last she had made it to her final class of the day, ELA.

"Good Afternoon class," Mr.Salman projected to the class, "Don't get to comfortable because as soon as I take attendance we will be headed to the library to give you all a chance to work in the project in class. But may I remind you that you won't have enough time to finish it at school so exchange emails or what ever you kids do these days."
