Bloom didn't dare move.
The girl with golden hair narrowed her golden eyes. They seemed to glow in the darkness. She was beautiful, even with the black blood that was splattered across her face. "I can see you, you know." the golden girl paused. "If you're thinking about running, don't bother."
Bloom took a deep breath, and walked out from the tree line into the meadow. The two girls were still at least 20 feet apart. Bloom tightened her hold on Kiko's collar, as if he would abandon her at any moment.
The girl's tone was different as she adjusted her stance, putting a hand on her hip. "What is that?" Her eyes lingered on Kiko.
Bloom hesitated before responding. She already suspected that whoever this girl was, she wasn't from earth. But she knew for sure now. "Kiko, my dog." The words shook as she spoke, and Bloom wished that just once her voice would not betray her and show her fear. But she couldn't control the shaking of her voice as the words tumbled out. "Who are you?"
Stella took in the sight of the girl in front of her. Her slender build, her clothes, her terrified eyes. The red-headed girl was clad in jeans and a teal and yellow t-shirt. Honestly, she seemed completely harmless. But Stella's magic recoiled slightly in her presence, which set warning bells off in Stella's mind. "I'm Stella..." she finally said, assessing the girl that may not be as harmless as she seems. Sizing up her opponent, as she always did. "Where are we?"
"Los Angeles, California." Bloom said, like it was the most well-known place in the dimension.
"I don't know where that is." And that was not the right thing to say, apparently, because the girl's eyes widened and she stepped back slightly. Stella rolled her eyes. "Can you be more specific, please?"
"Stella! Behind you!"
Stella whirled just in time to see another ghoul lunging towards her. She ducked and moved to the side, channeling a spear of light towards it from Sun-Weaver.
Bloom turned away and covered her eyes from the burning white light that cascaded out of the staff. As she instinctively raised her hands to shield her eyes, she let go of Kiko's collar. Bloom felt him run off while she pressed her hands harder against her eyes. Bloom heard a grunt from behind her as the meadow descended into darkness once again. She twirled blindly and briefly looked back towards the strange girl in orange, but any sight she had at night was stripped away by the bright light Stella's scepter just emitted. Bloom could only make out the faint shapes of Stella and the monster, though their grunts echoed across the meadow. She gave them one final glance before blindly turning back to the forest to chase after Kiko. It's not like she could be of any help in a fight anyways.
Bloom stumbled through the darkness as her poor eyes struggled to adjust to the dark forest. "Kiko!" She called out. "Kiko! Come here boy!" She tripped over a root and caught herself right before she smacked face-first into a tree right in front of her. She stood there with her hand resting on the tree for a few moments as she willed her eyes to adjust faster to the low light.
