Luka couldn't help but notice Marrinettes mind was else where other than him whilst on a picnic date, which was not to mention her idea. He didn't want to admit to himself that she still loved Adrien. All Luka ever wanted was for her to be happy, and oddly she never seemed to care the same in return.

And it was true, Marrinette still thought of him. His smell, his touch. The way his hair was placed perfectly on his head as if each strand was put there by some god. She loved him. Even though he didn't love her the same.

Luka never got angry with her for it, he just couldn't. He understands that love isn't a choice, if so he wouldn't have chosen to love a girl who couldn't even pay attention to him on their dates.

"Marrinette, what are you thinking of?" Luka asked, although it was clear he already knew the answer.

Luka noticed she looked hurt. He never wanted her to hurt. And looked in the direction her blue bell eyes were obsessing. He saw Kagami. And Adrien...

Presuming they were on a date he could understand why Marrinette was hurt. Seeing as Marrinette had gone head over heels for him.

Noone knew how Adrien could be so blind to Marrinettes love, she couldn't even think about standing near him without her knees wobbling beneath her and her mouth becoming hoarse. Much less compose a sentence. Most think Adrien is with Kagami because she's the only one whose never rejected his love. Unlike his father, or anyone else. Marrinette never had the chance to admit it, and although she showed him the upmost compassion Adrien had never had a friend before, he thought thats what a friend was.

"S-sorry Luka, I didn't mean to get distracted I just-" she was cut off before finishing her sentence by an understanding boyfriend "-you just still love him. It's obvious Marrinette. But I don't want to be the one to hold you back. Much less you be the one to hold me back."

Luka was surprised by how easily he told her he couldn't do it anymore. In all honesty he believed he shouldn't have been her second choice. Even though he just wanted her to be happy, he couldn't just be another stepping stone to get over Adrien.

"Luka... I never meant to hurt you." Her voice started parting because of guilt and shame. She did love Luka, just not as she loved Adrien. She could hear her heart sounding like that of a bass drum in her ear. She just wanted to cry.

Everything was so complicated.

As a lump built in her throat she heard the soft blue haired boy start to speak,"I know this was never your intention, Marrinette. But we can't be together if your mind is on someone else. If your mind changes, I'll be here, if not, don't sweat it. Everything will be alright"

"Thank you Luka." Marrinette didn't understand how Luka could be so understanding in this situation. She loved another man whilst in a relationship with him and he was worried about hurting her.

"I'll see you around Marrinette." And with that he was gone.

Marrinette was alone. 'How could I be so stupid' she thought. All she wanted to do was have one clear thought. One love. But for some reason he always lingered in the deepest parts of her brain. And yet the blond boy knew nothing about Marrinettes abundance of love for him.

The sun was setting and she was tired. The guilt of breaking her spouses heart had been eating her away the entire day. She wished everything had worked for Luka and her. She wished she'd been better for him. She walked home sulking in her own despair only to bathe in self loathe and regret as she buried herself in her covers.

Adrien was thinking back to earlier in the day.

'While me and Kagami were strolling the park together I saw faces i recognized through my peripheral vision. Luka and Marrinette. I thought of saying hi, but Kagami seemed to get a hitch jealous and it seemed they were on a date, I didn't want to interrupt. We sat on a bench enjoying Andre's ice cream we had gotten before hand. When I noticed Luka get up and walk away. He seemed hurt but content. Whilst Marrinette seemed as though she was going to burst at the seams. When I saw her crying I wanted nothing more but to comfort her. But Kagami reminded me I was there with her. To be with her and only her. But I still felt bad.'

Both the deep haired girl and the blond haired boy sulked in their beds. Although worlds apart. Adrien felt like he couldn't just do nothing.

"Plagg, claws out!"

After he transformed into his alter ego, he took off. Jumping roof to roof with his pole. And on a mission to comfort a girl desperately in need of affection and understanding.

When Marrinette was startled out of her sleep by a loud thump on her balcony and foot steps she debated on transforming, but decided against it seeing as she was in her room. Instead she grabbed the nearest thing her hands found, which happened to be a shoe, and went up to investigate.

She opened the trap door to her balcony steadily and cautiously. When she emerged from it she was taken aback by the fact that she couldn't see anyone.

"Hey purr-incess" a voice dropped down from above her.

Startled by the sudden movement and noise she threw her shoe out of self defense and hit the chat in the face.

"Ow! Watch where you throw shoes. Almost damaged my model worthy beauty." The chat boasted.

Marrinette was confused as to why a super hero in a cat suit was at her house.

"A warning ahead of time would've been nice, kitty" she joked, but also not, it definitely would've been nice.

'Kitty? Hm thats what ladybug calls me' The Chat thought to himself. He shook it off as coincidence and looked at Marrinettes face. She seemed distracted. He could see tear stains from her mascara as if she's fallen asleep crying.

"Marrinette did you.. cry yourself to sleep?" The Chat asked trying to seem as un-intrusive as possible.

Marrinettes hand quickly went to her face to wipe away her melted makeup.

"Oh, uhm- yea! Just not a good day- I guess." Marrinette wanted to cry just thinking about the events of today. Just reimagining the scenes unfolding on the back of her eyelids was enough to make her want to crawl into bed and never come out.

"We can talk about it if you'd like!" Chat wanted nothing more but to be able to comfort Marrinette in this moment. As Adrien or not, he just wanted to be there as compensation for not being there when he could've before.

"I don't know, Chat Noir I-" She didn't want to have yet another break down but she knew deep down talking about it would be nice.

"Listen Mari, we dont have to talk about anything if you don't wish too, but know the best way to get over something is to talk to someone about it." Marrinette was suprised by this side of Chat. I guess as Ladybug she didn't see it often.

"Well, today i totally blew my date with my boyfriend and basically forced him to break up with me, because the entire time the only thing I could do is think of another boy I loved. Another boy who didn't love me back." Marinette wasn't sure why she couldn't just love the boy who loved her back. It seemed like the easiest choice but for some reason it wasn't.

Chat wondered who this mystery boy could've been. But he refrained from asking so he didn't intrude on Marrinettes personal life.

"Marrinette do you want to get out of here?"

"What do you mean, Chat?"

"Come with me. We can have a great night together. Away from all the heart break."

Marrinette thought, it wasn't too late.

"Sounds nice kitty."

And with that they took off into the night, rooftop to rooftop. Off to the first location of the night.
