₀ Prologue

"Mommy! Mommy! Wake up!" The enthusiastic voice of your son awoke you from your slumber.

"Kazuki, please stop screaming in my ears." You groaned, keeping your eyes closed.

You went to bed late last night after having a few drinks with Ichika. It had been a couple of weeks since you and her had seen each other because she was out of the country. She came back to Tokyo last night and you couldn't stop yourself from inviting her to have a couple shots of liquor with you. She ended up staying the night because she didn't want to drive home under the influence.

"But, you promised.. Last night.." He said in a disappointed tone. "You said you're going to let me meet my daddy today.." You hear him mumble next to you.

Your eyes flew open, "Said what now??"

You notice your son's disappointed expression and your gaze softened. "Baby, I'm sorry. Mommy was drunk last night, I.." You paused, realizing how irresponsible you are as a mother sometimes.

"... It's okay.. I know I don't have a Papa, I know.." He pauses, which shot a sharp sting in your heart. It was painful to hear those words come out of your son's mouth.

"So... you should find someone so I can have one."  He adds while looking down at his tiny fingers.

You sweat drop at his sudden bold proposal.

"Also, so that you can be happy and not drink alcohol all the time because it's bad for you." He finishes while fidgeting his fingers.

"This is awkward, imagine having a three year old tell you to get your shit together."

You reach out your hand to squeeze his cheeks, "How dare you wake me up at three in the morning just to lecture me on how to become an adult."

"But I just want you to be happy." He said in gibberish.

You let go of his cheeks and sat up, "You're too young to be worrying about this stuff. Let me deal with the adult stuff and you, little sir," You gently pinch his nose, "Worry about the kids stuff." You finished and you let go.

"But who's going to look after you? You only have me, Ryou, and Aunty Chi." He said with a puzzled expression.

You mentally sigh, "This child.."

You push Kazuki down onto the bed and tucked him in, "Sleep, Kazu. Remember what I told you about ghosts?" You asked.

He nods, "Ghosts are awake when it's dark outside.."

"mhm, and?"

"And.. they take children who are not asleep." He added.

"Right, so you should sleep. You don't want these ghosts to take you away from mommy, do you?"

He shakes his head.

Ichika has scolded you many times about scaring Kazuki with ghosts but after hearing what he said to you tonight, you couldn't think of anything else to tell him to get him to sleep.

"Goodnight, baby." You give him a peck on his cheeks and his forehead before leaning back into the bed and tucking yourself in.

"Night, mommy." He said and closed his eyes. You feel him scoot into your arms and you hug him until he finally fell asleep.

"You want a dad, huh?" You mumble to yourself as you stare at the huge painting on the wall.

You close your eyes, letting yourself drift off to sleep, "You're so greedy, you already have me, why are you looking for somebody else..."
