TREVOR
The others and I rushed towards the infirmary when we heard Luna screaming out. Before we could get to the door, the sounds stopped. We paused for a long moment; there wasn't any more noise. We exchanged concerned glances; I had no idea why the noise suddenly stopped, but I had a strong, gut feeling that it wasn't good.
We rushed to the entrance of the infirmary and we were about to barrel in but one of the medical sorceress blocked us.
"You can't be in here right now," she said sternly, looking tired and impatient. She'd obviously had a taxing day - everyone had, in fact - and she did not look like she was in the mood to deal with us.
"We don't mean to cause any trouble, but that sounded like our friend in there," said Belle gently. "We were scared she was in pain."
The sorceress's face softened. "I'm sorry, I didn't realize that one of your friends was in there. Is she that one whose body is trying to transform into a shapeshifter?"
"Yes ma'am," said Tara. "We know she's in a lot of pain right now and we're just trying to make sure she's okay and our Apex and our fathers are in there. Can we please go in and see them?"
The sorceress exhaled loudly. "I'm sorry, but I cannot. Our infirmary is so jam packed with people right now and since our building is so small, we can't afford to have even more people to come in. But if you'd like, I can check on her real quick and tell you all how she is."
"That would be helpful," Tara said and gave the sorceress a bright, thankful smile. "Thank you, ma'am."
The sorceress smiled back. "You're welcome, sweetheart."
The sorceress went back inside.
A moment later, Ken, Savannah and Jamal walked towards us. They'd gone off to patrol the area along with the other sorceresses and sorcerers, making sure there weren't anymore vampires lurking around. Myself, the Lewis's and Belle opted to stay near the infirmary in case my dad, Peter, Flynn or Luna needed anything. Laura and Mom were near the grounds where the castle had collapsed, where they were still clearing through the rubble and finding anyone who had been trapped.
"We couldn't find anyone," Ken announced as he, Savannah and Jamal approached.
"I guess that one vampire was the only one," Christian mused as he sat back down on the grass.
The vampire had been taken to one of the prison cells they kept. They had chained him with shackles of iron to keep him in place.
"Ken, what was that ring you used on that vampire earlier?" Belle asked, frowning. "That did not seem like an ordinary football ring."
Ken smirked. "Because it wasn't. Coach was so grateful that I won the game for the team that he gave me a ring that would force any being to tell the truth. I had no idea how that could be useful to me, but I guess it is. It was so random, but he figured I'd need it someday."
Chrsitian snorted and looked up at Ken. "Dude, you threw one good ball."
Ken laughed. "You jealous, man?"
Christian had wanted to try out for our school's football team but he didn't know how to play well enough and didn't make it on. However, he said it was a huge relief; he worked right after school and on the weekends and he said he didn't know if he had the time to play football.
Christian snorted again. "You wish. I'm just stating the facts."
Jamal chuckled and slapped Ken on the back good naturedly. "I have to agree with Chris on this one. All you did was throw a lucky ball."
