It had been three long and stressful days.

Papyrus has forbidden you from being even remotely near his unstable brother, which of course Sans is throwing a raging fit over. Leave it to the younger one to be the most responsible out of the two. And as much as Papyrus admires and adores his older brother sometimes, he just can't stand him, especially in moments like these when Sans has his heats. Not only that but Sans would call out for you despite having zero control over himself.

Way to make it harder on everyone involved Sans.

Well done.

Then that leaves you. Papyrus pities you the most out of everyone in this godforsaken situation. He knows that you can hear Sans calling out for you and it's obvious that you feel horrible every time you ignore him. His calls for you were like a siren, Papyrus could tell it absorbed you in a way that was concerning. If he wasn't here to look after you, you might have already gone into Sans room.

That's not the last thing on Papyrus' troubled mind but you were injured as well, Papyrus knows that his brother didn't mean anything by it. Sans doesn't actually want to hurt anyone, much less you of all people.

Sans is a gentle soul. Papyrus is certain of it.

But that doesn't change the fact that he bit you, nor does it change the fact that you both need to be kept apart or it may result in death. Well no, it will result in your death, that much is pretty damn clear.

That's why he's been keeping watch over you.

Why he's been keeping you safe. It feels like his obligation.

And it's why you've been kept in Papyrus' room these past few nights. Allowing you to sleep on his bed while Papyrus stayed up with worry. He didn't want you out of his sight, in fear that you'd be foolish enough to listen to the plea of Sans' voice, calling you and begging for you to hold him while he was in pain.

Papyrus had to stop you from pitying Sans. Seeing you worry confused him a bit, how could you trouble yourself over a monster who had inflicted pain onto you? Papyrus didn't want to blame you, it wasn't your fault, it was only human of you after all.

Your concern also made sense since he was calling your soul. You don't understand that you're going to fall into a trance as soon as Sans calls for you.

Papyrus did have to explain to you that Sans was going through something that all monsters went through, and it was very natural. Though he wasn't sure if your tiny human brain had comprehended the term heat.

Your face did become flushed after hearing that word. He also informed you that Sans will be extremely aggressive if you approach him any time soon. There was also a possibility that he'd just eat you instead. It was hard to look into your fearful eyes when telling you this, he wishes he was exaggerating but it's true, Sans will do something that goes against his morals and won't have any knowledge of it after...

But today, today was a very important day, the queen was going to pay a visit to the town. And as much as Papyrus wished she wouldn't, he had a duty of a royal guard to fulfill before she arrived. To add to Papyrus' scrambled mind Sans was still in heat, so in consideration of his brother Papyrus is going to have to take you with him to collect the angry villager's rations for the month.

It was by the queen's order that everyone released their food to the queen at the end of the month. Food was obviously scarce, the queen had a system where every ration had to be handed over to the castle where the food would be distributed evenly among the underground, and to the monsters that served under the queen. Though it's pretty hard to ration for the underground when there's practically no food to give to the queen.
