CHAPTER TWO

I woke up to early Sunday morning light casting a warm glow through the balcony doors and onto my face. I like Sundays. They are just always so peaceful and relaxing. Knowing I still have a lot of my room to finish, I get up out of the comfort from my bed, and grab a change of clothes out of my bag and head to the shower.

Once I am fresh, clean and dress I scoop my long black hair into a messy pony tail as I begin to pull my clothes out of the boxes they were in and began to neatly put them into my draws. Last night when we were moving my furniture, I had discovered a slim door in the wall. I guess I had missed it because I was in awe with the balcony. When you open the slim door, it reveals slanted shelves with numerous box shapes, which I assumed was designed to be a shoe cupboard. I placed my shoes inside and moved on to my books, records and little knick-knacks that I had collected and couldn't leave behind. As I looked around my room, I fiddled with my necklace. It was a simple chain but the pendant was a silver wolf head, staring head-on. I decided that my room looks decent with its pale blue walls and beige furniture. I walk out of my room and down the stairs and head to the kitchen to see my mum unpacking all the kitchen utensils. “Need help?” I ask, cause with the amount of boxes, it looks like she could use all the help she needs.

“No honey, I’m fine,” she gave me a smile “why don't you head into town and see if you can find anything nice that might be good for decoration?” Brave move mum, trusting me with the décor of the house.

“You sure? You’re pretty much swimming in boxes.” I offer once more but she simply sends me a deadpanned look telling me no. “Well then, can I take your car? I might get a few things and I’ll also grab some new school things.” Mum had her car delivered here before we arrived, knowing that we wouldn't be able to drive it here.

“Sure, be careful and all that jazz, just don't go over board, okay?” she smiles at me knowing my judgement to well and the fact that I may get just a little bit too much.

“Alright fine, see you in a bit.” I turn and give her a half-hearted wave as I grab her keys and walk out the door. I reach for the handle and before I can open it, my mum rushes out quickly.

“Arti? I meant it when I said be careful.” Was all she said before disappearing back inside and shutting the door.

Well that was weird. I got in the car and started driving in the direction of the town. Passing the school again I give another look at it. I don't know why, but I get the feeling that there are so many secrets about that school. I guess I’ll find out later. I parked along the main road and got out and started searching the stores.

A couple of hours later, I shove all the bags into the back of the car. It’s all mainly throwing pillows and a few other decorative things. I managed to find the perfect cushion for my balcony, just to give it a little more character. Hearing my stomach growl, I lock the car again and walk down the street to find some source of food. Without having to walk far, I spot a small little dinner that looks a little out of date but still really nice. Entering I walk over to an empty booth and have a look at their menu. I feel eyes boar into me from all directions. Like I said, this place seems like a town where every body knows everybody, so of course everyone would stare at a new face. I place the menu down as a middle-aged woman wearing a light blue apron approached me. “Hey darling, what can I help you with today?” she gave me a kind smile. I read the name of her badge.

“Hi Sarah, I would love to try the beef burger and chips, with a coke if that’s okay?” I smiled at her and returned the menu back to the table.

“Sure thing sugar.” She then walks away.

After Sarah returned with my burger and drink 10 minutes later, I devoured it and left her a tip and drove back home. Walking through the front door with loads of bags is not fun, let me tell you that, but I managed somehow. Mum seemed to have put the remaining things in boxes away. What a determined woman. I chucked the throw pillows onto the couches and chairs we had lying around and some even went into the many spare rooms. I placed the one for my balcony on the little ledge, and grabbed a book. It was starting to hit late afternoon and I knew I wouldn't have much time outside to read, so instead I chose to read inside. Just as I was about to shut and lock the balcony doors, I felt eyes watching me. You know when you get that hair on the back of your neck standing up and you can just tell when you are being watched. Well that's what I have. On a big scale, which only meant I had a few pairs of eyes watching me. I looked outside and into the forest that seemed to surround the house but it was getting to dark to actually be able to see anything. Giving up, I went inside and shut the door.

I opened the book, only to close it and place it back down again. I couldn’t read now with this feeling. Instead of staying up and pondering about it, I decided to get a really early night sleep. Tomorrow’s going to be a big day. New start, new school, new problems.
