Okay so lately i've been hit with a hell of a lot of school work and assignments so if i miss a week or so or even a couple, then during the holidays or once i have all my assignments due, ill upload all the await chapters in one go as a treat. Sorry again it's just I do not have any time right now.
CHAPTER THREE
So today so far hasn't been the best for me. For one, I woke up only to instantly be suddenly blinding by that big giant flaming ball in the sky, then I was able to find half the things I needed for school, I tripped down the last few steps and smacked my knee, burnt my toast so now I’m hungry and to top it all off, I am now late on my first day of school. “Honey, calm down, you’ll be fine and on time.” Mum said in an attempt to try and calm me down, although it wasn’t working to well, A+ for effort though.
All I could do was respond with a groan of annoyance. Today is terrible already and I can already tell that it’s just going to get worse. The quicker I end the day, the better. Mum pulled up into the car park of my new school and turned the engine off. “You should take your hair out of your ponytail, you look a lot nicer with your hair down,” she said as she reached across and pulled out my hair tie and placing my black hair around my face, but not covering it “there, much better. Beautiful.” She smiled the kind of smile only a parent can give their child, as if they are showing all their love in just that one gesture. I’ve done a lot for my mum, and she has one so much for me too. We were like salt and pepper. While I had my father’s black hair, she had blonde hair. We worked well together, but just as well separated as well, and not everything likes the both of us, people tend to like my mother better, she kind of just fit with almost anything and helped, where as I stood out, I was opinionated and loud. “Try and have fun today Arti, please?”
I nodded and got out of her car. I waved to her as she drove off then turned to face the school. It looked like a Victorian style building with pale coloured bricks rising 3 stories and with black roof and trimming. The windows and window seals were also in black and instead of clashing or making it look daggy; it surprisingly complemented it very well. There was a brick wall about 3 metres in width with “Hunter Academy” written in big silver letters. That seemed a tad excessive but oh well. I entered the school and into the administration office to receive my timetable only to find the receptionist with a sour face on as a student argued with her. The poor lady looked ready to give up when she saw me and taking her chance for a distraction said in a cheery yet strained voice “Hello Miss, what am I able to help you with?”
Before I could respond the boy who was arguing with the lady turned and gave me a platonic smile before leaving. I turned my attention back to the lady behind the desk and explained that I was the new student and needed my things. “Uh, yeah, I’m Artemis Marksen, I need my timetable please?” The lady nodded and proceeded to print of my timetable. Once I received it I only bothered to read my first class of the day. English. Well great, at least it isn’t something I’m terrible at. As I passed through the hallways, I looked down to make sure I was getting the room number correct when I bumped into someone’s chest. I stumbled a bit but the person I ran in to didn't move, so I guess he purposely stood in my way. I looked up to see the same guy from the office giving me a big smile. It kind of looked like it was hurting his face a bit.
“Uh, sorry, but I didn't realise that someone was stupid enough to stand in front of someone as they walked.” I said in a rather bitchy tone. I mean, it’s kind of weird to step in to someone’s path.
“Well I wouldn’t have stepped in to your path if you had just replied to me.” He responded. No doubt he noticed my confused face and continued on. “I was calling out to you. I am guessing you’re the new student everyone has been talking about? Well, of course you are, you are the only person around here I have never seen before, but anyway, you look lost. What room are you trying to find? Or are you looking for Narnia? Because trust me, I’ve tried and hasn’t worked so far.” How he managed to say all that with the annoyingly happy smile on his face will forever have me questioning.
“I’m looking for room 3E12.”
“Well then, you have English with me then,” his smile seemed to grow. Creepy. “The room layout is different from normal. See the first number means the level it’s on, the letter represents the class and the last number is the room.” Okay, well that now made more sense. “Follow me and I’ll show you,”
“Wait!” I called out as he started to walk away. “I am not following you, I don’t even know your name.” I blankly stared at him.
He smacked his head as if he suddenly realised exactly what I just pointed out. “Right, sorry about that, I’m Max, now will you follow me? I mean we are already late for class and although Mr Jones is pretty cool, I really would like to avoid the argument later.” I simply nodded and trailed behind him. I feel like a lost puppy, this was seriously embarrassing.
“Thanks for saving me with finding the rooms, I never would of found it otherwise. I’m Arti by the way.”
“It’s nice to meet you Arti. Cool name, what's it short for?”
“Artemis.” There was a short pause of awkward silence. “So, what’s this Mr Jones like?”
“You’re about to find out.” Those were his last words as he opened up the door and pushed me into the room.
