19- Loss

Nya P.O.V.

It has been a year since we buried Lloyd. In that time much had changed. We all were much more distant from one another, apart from me and Jay. We actually grew closer. Kai distanced himself the most, he often locked himself up in his room and only came out to get some food and locked himself up again. Cole and Zane were quieter than normal and Jay wasn't as crazy, he was more grounded. Master Wu was never here, we presumed he was looking for his brother. After Lloyd's death, Garmadon disappeared. No one heard or saw anything of him since.

I fell into a depression for months. The team did what they could, but nothing helped. I only now started to feel more like myself again, thanks to Jay.

Jay and I spent a lot of time together. He really helped me take my mind off of Lloyd. It helped during the daytime, but at nights when I was alone in my room, I felt the loneliness creep in. I often cried myself to sleep, what the team didn't know. For their eyes, I was doing surprisingly well all things considered. 

I kept my sadness a secret. I had taken up so much of their time during the first months, I felt like it was enough.

"Hey Nya, dinner is ready!" Zane called out.

I made my way to the dining table and sat down next to Jay.

"Where's Kai?" I asked.

"In his room probably" Cole said as he picked at his food.

Since Lloyd's death, Cole ate far less. Because of that, he was constantly moody.

"I'll go get him" I said as I stood up and walked out of the dining area.

I made my way to Kai's room and knocked on his door.

"Hey Kai, you coming to eat?" I asked.

"I'm not hungry" He replied.

"Well then at least let me in" I said as I banged on the door.

I heard Kai sigh as he unlocked his door.

"What do you want?" He asked frustrated.

"I want you to eat something, nothing more" I replied.

"Is Lloyd eating too?"

"Kai.... You know he isn't."

"Well then, I'm not going to either" He said as he slammed the door shut in front of my face.

"Kai, it has been a year, come on" I said as I pounded on his door.

"I just can't believe that you all have forgotten Lloyd already. From the others, I could expect it, but from you? I thought you loved him?" Kai said from the other side of the door.

Those words cut deep. Hearing his name brought tears to my eyes. I felt like sinking to my knees and crying my heart out. But I must stay strong, at least until I'm alone.

I slowly breathed in and out and tried to forget what he had just said.

"Kai, open this door this instant. You are going to come eat whether you like it or not!"

At that moment Kai opened the door and bluntly walked past me.

I followed him down the hall and entered the dining room.

"There you are Kai, we've missed you" Jay said sarcastically.

"Shut it Jay. I didn't come here to get mocked by you, I came here for Nya" Kai answered as he pointed a fork at Jay.

"I'm so intimidated right now. Zane, do me a favour and record this. I fear this may be my last moment. I'm going to get killed by a fork!"

It was silent before Cole bursted out with laughter.
