Only few days had passed after what Maya said to her daughter. There was no way Rebecca wanted to be in bad terms with her mother. It was just not happening. So after the last time, Rebecca sent a text to Florian asking him to make time for her, because she was in a situation.
Once he received her message, he isolated himself and called her right away.
Now, there they were, on their way to her family. Florian kept his eyes switching between the road and Youri through the mirror, while Rebecca was pinching the upper part of her nose. She was anxious.
Her mother was obviously threatening her if she didn't show up with Florian. While his parents were pressuring him to not bringing her around. What a funny situation, isn't it ?
Rebecca really felt like she was getting ready for an act on broadway.
She was swallowing hard her spit when Florian grabbed her hand, pull it to his mouth and kiss softly the back of it.
Even if she didn't speak that much to him about the situation, her body language show him that she was not right. Rebecca was not the type of women who beg for attention. So if she needed him, it was the least that he could do.
« We got this » he said in a low tone and keeping his eyes on the road.

The house was full of playfull cheers because of the dozen of children Maya was « sitting ». Actually they were children from the neighborhood but they just really like being around Maya. That's why Youri loved going to her grandma so much, he always made new friends. He was adapting fast to new people.
Children voices made the mood lighter for the adult conversation. Once the little family arrived, they were welcomed by Maya and Brianna warm hugs only. Boys were out and busy. It was better that way for Rebecca and Florian.
The less they were seeing Robert the better they were.
Maya made chicken waffle because not only she was fire at it but because it was the favorite soul food of Florian. She even made an Oreo cheesecake for dessert.
« Alright I see someone is being well take care of » Rebecca said to her mother
It made Florian chuckled while devouring his plate.
« Don't be jealous, it's been a while a haven't see my boy, I needed him to remember what he is missing since he abandoned me » Maya said in a playful tone.
Everyone knew she wasn't joking.
Rebecca looked at her sister with big eyes because she knows he was in trouble. And she was worried about it. Florian put his hand on Maya's
« I could never » he said with his brightest smile trying to plead his case.

Once Florian checked on Youri to see if everything was alright, he went to the kitchen to be able to have a conversation with Maya. Since Rebecca was with her sister in her room he thought it was the good moment.
He needed to reassure Maya, because obviously she wasn't down for Rebecca explanations no more. He walked in the house with assurance till he arrived at the kitchen door frame.
« Hey do you have a minute ? » he asked to Maya who was reading an health magazine
« Of course Florian come in » she answered removing her glasses and put them on the top of her head
