Y/N'S POV

"Yay!" I cheered, stretching after the long trek to the Capitol. "We finally made it..."

Lucy had her hands on her knees and was breathing heavily and Wendy was wiping the sweat on her forehead. "I miss flying." Happy sighed and Curly nodded his head in agreement.

"Yeah it was so much easier."

"Honestly, it wasn't that bad. You boys just need to workout more." Carla commented, making Curly and Happy look at her with hurt faces.

"B-But Carla, we're cats," Happy complained. "I thought we didn't have to work out!"

"Wait, Carla are you saying that you can't tell that I work out. I-I'm super buff!" Curly started to try and flex while Happy looked downright confused.

I looked at Natsu and saw that he was swiftly moving his head from sided to side, most likely looking for a clue to where his friends were. I would say our friends, but I don't think I'm quite there yet. "Natsu," I comforted, putting a hand on his shoulder. "We'll find them, I promise!" I gave him my brightest smile. He grinned widely and put his hand on top of mine.

"Thanks, Y/N. I needed that. And do you mind if I call N/N (Nickname!)? It's simpler and will be fun to call you!"

I blushed and looked down. "U-Um, sure! Why not? I love it."

If I had looked up I would have noticed the how hot his face had become as well.

Suddenly, a crowd of people brought us out of our moment. "Let's check it out!" Natsu took the hand that he had put on my own and shifted it so that it was holding mine. Then he pulled me after the crowd. Why does this keep happening! I thought and felt my face heating up.

"N-Natsu! Wait for us!!!!" Lucy's mouth dropped open and she ran after us with the others.

Time Skip brought to you by running through a crowd like crazy people!

Natsu's POV

The crowd was cheering. The king was giving a dumb speech. And right there behind him stood my friends. In the form of a giant lacrima.

He said something about magic and how soon this other magic that they used would be worthless compared to a stronger magic they would obtain. And then he stuck his staff into the lacrima. Into my friends.

The idiot king stabbed my friends, not caring about their well being. How could he...? Broken pieces of lacrima rained down onto the floor in front of me. My face changed into one of rage. I grit my teeth.

He was going to pay. I though, upset. The king finished his boring speech and I surged foreword. I would teach him a lesson he would never forget.

Then I felt warm arms wrap around me, holding me back. "Let me go!" I shouted, drowned out by the crowd's cheering. "Let me fight him! He can't do this to my family!"

Then I looked behind me to see who was holding me back. Y/N. Tears were streaming down her face and she was trembling a bit. Yet her arms still remained firm around my body. "Natsu... Please. We all feel the same way..."She shook and I stopped struggling against her.

"Your right... I'm sorry, I was just so upset..." I turned around and hugged her close to me. She was still trembling. I didn't completely understand why she was crying to be honest. But, just the fact that she was crying was enough to calm me down. I hated seeing her like this. It made my worry. I feel like there was another feeling other than worry when I held her in my arms though. Maybe it was...

Hunger? Yeah, that's probably it.

Y/N'S POV

Why was I crying? Maybe because I knew that these people meant a lot to Natsu, Lucy, Wendy, Happy, and Carla. Maybe it was because of the other tears flowing freely on my friends faces that made me want to cry? As I stood there, shaking, in Natsu's strong arms I figured it out.

They were the first humans to every show me true kindness and friendship. Something that I had longed for since, well, forever. I have thought for so many years that it was only going to be me and Curly forever. That unless I found my dragon, loneliness would take over. And know, the people who made me feel happy were about to die, were going to be turned into magic energy for the king to take.

It filled me with sadness. "I-I'm okay now." I wipe the tears from my eyes and pulled away from Natsu. "W-we should go now..."

"Yeah...Okay." He answered, motioning to the others. "C'mon let's find a place to stay."

I followed the others on a quest to find a place to rest in. I couldn't help but take one last look at the lacrima that held my friends.

We will save you! I promise!
