PARTY

A COUPLE OF DAYS had passed; Harry still hadn't figured out the meaning of the golden egg, it was a puzzle, literally. If you were to open it, it would end up sending a high pitch, earsplitting ring to travel the area. Melody had tried to help him, but there was no way she could. She hadn't found anything in the library that had included any information of the egg, perhaps she was looking in wrong area⸺she had began to assume that there could possibly be something in the restricted section.

Hermione was someone who was better at these things, though their academic knowledge was about the same. Mione' always had better luck finding information, or better yet, knowing where to find it.

It was saturday, which meant it was time for Melody to get ready for the thing she dread the most. The Slytherin Party. Maybe others were excited, yes. But Melody wasn't one who really went to them. Occasionally she would, but she never went to one that the serpent house was holding.

It wasn't because she was frightened of the students, it was moreso the fact that she wasn't comfortable with them. Melody didn't really like the stereotypes of the houses, but she just had overheard other peoples' interactions with the Slytherins⸺it was not friendly. The constant words that would get thrown, perse there may have been some who weren't as cruel as the others, but that's what most of them were known for. Malfoy had proven that throughout the course of these past years until now.

The day had passed quite quickly, more so than usual and more than she would have liked. She had stayed in her room, she had spent most of it scattering through letters that had been sent to her previously, as well as the ink and parchment to send some back. Her desk had ended up looking like a table after a meal. It was a mess.

There we some circles under her eyes from how exhausted she had become from concentrating on the papers that were placed in front of her. Melody was waiting for Hermione to come to the Ravenclaw tower; it took quite a bit of convincing to get Hermione to actually consider going with her to the party.

Hermione wasn't usually a party type, only at her house's parties, as far as Melody knew. The times that they went Gryffindor parties, everyone was yelling, music was blasting in all different directions while lights were beginning to strob around in circles; the colors bouncing off the red and gold filled walls. Hermione and Melody would be in the middle of the crowd, singing their hearts out whenever the music began to rise to a more upbeat song. They would jump, smile, laugh, they would just do everything and anything they could to feel alive.
