It had been a rough week. The school year was almost over which meant teachers were cramming in as much as they could, and finals were coming up. Even me, a straight A student was struggling a bit. Of course, this meant the rest of my classmates were too. Every time the end of a semester drew close, my phone lit up with messages as kids who ignored my existence most of the time began to ask for assignments that were due weeks ago or help studying for the finals. It was so annoying. I helped every one of them. I try to think that I do it just to be nice, but I know that's bullshit. I do it because there's part of me that hopes someone will say "Bea, could you give me the history assignment from last Tuesday? Also, do you want to go to the pool this weekend with me and my friends? We'd love to spend time with you! Something like that would be nice. That would never happen I thought as I locked my front door and headed toward my truck. The sun was almost finished setting and I had a relaxing night of stargazing planned. My parents owned a couple acres of land and the stars were beautiful, I could lie in the back of my pickup and stare into the sky for hours. When I got to my favorite spot I settled down in the nest of pillows and blankets I had thrown into the truck. The stars were as stunning as ever and as always, took my breath away. After an hour I was completely relaxed and no longer worried about homework vultures or my finals. As I lay in my truck bed, a dull hum broke the silence, almost like an engine. I stood up to check to make sure mine was off, I did not need my battery to die and get stuck out here. After ensuring my car was off, the sound persisted, growing louder. It was a clear night and I saw no blinking lights of a plane anywhere near me. I began to walk away from my car to the top of a small hill as the sound grew louder. When I reached the top of the hill, I still couldn't find the source of the sound. I turned around, annoyed that my relaxing night has been ruined by a mysterious sound. As I walked, I noticed the ground in front of me becoming brighter. I stopped dead in my tracks and slowly turned my head to the sky, dreading what I'd see as a glowing ship hovered over me and began to beam me off the ground.
