You're a budding politician, making a name for yourself as one of the youngest Representatives from Virginia to run for Congress. Unexpectedly, your campaign falters, and you need to do everything you can to win back your popularity.

With the public's eyes on you, you're dead set on reforming the FBI and making a name for yourself. So, when you're given the chance to work with the Behavioral Analysis Unit for the rest of the year to build a political report that can secure your candidacy and maybe even help the BAU, you're met with open arms by the team.

That is, by everyone but SSA Aaron Hotchner — a man who despises your play of politics, who despises everything he thinks he knows about you.

just a disclaimer: romantic feelings in this story will be very, very slow. so, if you're looking for a more fluff, soft hotch fic, this might not be for you.

in most hotch fics, i usually see Y/N as a bit submissive even in the workplace (which is totally fine! my last fic was like that too), but i really wanted to write a fic where Y/N was seen as equally as powerful as hotch in the workplace. that said, Y/N is still very much a sub sexually, but please do not expect a passive, powerless main character.

writing 'against protocol' was amazing, and i was shown so much love while writing it, and i hope you guys enjoy 'stubborn games' just as well!

and, most of all, just remember this is fiction! i'm here to write for fun, and i'm open to any constructive criticism or opinions you guys may have.

background info

Y/N is running for congress — house of representatives to be specific — but this fic will probably have a host of political inaccuracies just for the sake of the plot (trust me, my poli sci major is crying rn)

also, the realisticness of a candidate running for congress working with the FBI for a year is VERY unlikely, but for the sake of the story, that will be what's happening.

i don't intend for this fic to spark any debate about politics, but Y/N is very much left-leaning. it's all just for fun, but knowing Y/N's stance will be helpful in navigating the fic.

so, enjoy! try not to think too much about how awful modern day politics has become : )
