WARNING: angst and loss of memory
If you feel uncomfortable reading these kind of things, please leave this chapter and tune in next week for another update instead.
Also, I apologize that the picture doesn't really match what the story is. I couldn't find a good photo. And they're still pretty young in this story too so keep that in mind.
Please make sure to leave suggestions or feedback if you have any, and enjoy this chapter.
Third person point of view:
Giyuu was tired. Very tired. It had only been a couple hours of training, but the harsh winter made it extremely difficult to focus on the mock battle with Sabito.
"Come on Giyuu! You can do it! Just get up like last time and we can scrimmage again!" Sabito shouted. The wind was picking up, the wailing sound through the trees making it hard to hear.
Giyuu clutched his arm, cut up slightly by Sabito's sword from the last fight. He looked up at the peach haired boy, feeling very dizzy all of a sudden.
"Sabito?" Giyuu asked, faintly.
"Did you say something Giyuu?" Giyuu's vision blurred slightly.
"Yeah, I said your name..." Giyuu blinked harshly, trying to regain his clear mind. "Sabito..."
The wind howled in the tree branches as Sabito helped Giyuu up to his feet.
"Did I hit you too hard or something? You're acting kind of weird." Sabito's expression changed to something of concern rather than confusion.
"I just got dizzy is all.." Giyuu said, trying to be louder. The raven haired boy clutched onto the other boy's haori sleeve, and tried to stop his legs from shaking.
"I can't hear you. Maybe I should get Urokodaki- sensei." Sabito started to peer around the trees, looking for any quick route back to the small house.
"I just..." Giyuu closed his eyes, the spinning world getting overwhelming. His hand dropped to his side as he sank to the ground, leaning against Sabito's legs.
Sabito watched worried at the shaking figure beneath him. He bent down slowly, not wanting to shove him to the ground.
"Giyuu? Can you hear me?" Sabito's voice was etched with concern for the smaller boy, and he tried to move his hands to Giyuu's face. Sabito lifted Giyuu's head, seeing his unconscious face.
"This isn't good."
...
After seeing Giyuu's sleeping face, Sabito had panicked. What was he meant to do? He couldn't very well leave him out in the cold to freeze to death, but he also couldn't just take him with him, seeing as he was too heavy. No that's not right. He's not heavy, he doesn't even eat that much. I just can't carry him.
Sabito tried yelling as hard as he could, but in comparison to the screeching winds around him, there was no way he would've been heard.
If it hadn't been for Mr. Urokodaki smelling the scent of worry and fear coming from the direction he had sent the two boys to go train, they probably wouldn't have survived. Or at least Giyuu wouldn't have.
Mr. Urokodaki had run as fast as he could, which was pretty damn fast, towards the two boys. He came to the clearing, farther up in the mountain to see Sabito holding Giyuu, trying to keep him warm by sharing his haori.
However, he too had fallen asleep from the cold. Mr. Urokodaki walked towards them and gently picked them both up. He wrapped them up in his own coat and turned and ran back towards the house.
Soon enough, he slowed down and halted, opening the door of his abode. He closed the cold out behind him as he walked near his hearth and set Giyuu and Sabito down.
Giyuu's head fell and rest on Sabito's shoulder, and even when he was sleeping Sabito's face contorted into a blushing smile.
Urokodaki stared for a moment. He made a sad smile under his mask.
He stood up and walked towards the closet, grabbing a large blanket that practically swallowed the two young boys in it.
Urokodaki crouched down beside the empty hearth. He moved dry logs into his fire and watched as they burned, heating up the house. After a while of watching and making sure the boys were warm enough, Urokodaki set about making hot broth, hoping when they woke up the meal would make them feel better.
...
"Ngh.." Sabito opened his eyes slowly, adjusting to the bright light of the fire before him. Sabito brought his hand to his face and rubbed his eyes, yawning. He recognized the blanket and the hearth, and he turned to look around when he saw Giyuu next to him.
Sabito's cheeks turned red, and he quickly shook his head to clear his mind. He looked at Giyuu and inspected him to make sure he wasn't wounded. Smiling and satisfied, Sabito tried to stand up, only to wobble a bit and hold onto the wall for support.
"Careful, it's been an hour since you walked. Don't move too fast or you'll get dizzy." Sabito gasped and turned around, happy to see his teacher.
"I'm glad you found us. I don't know what's wrong with him, I barely hit him and he started talking funny." Sabito walked carefully over to Urokodaki, and sat down crossed legged beside him.
"Sabito, why didn't you come back and get me?" Sabito could tell by his tone that he wasn't mad, but genuinely curious. Urokodaki continued stirring the pot.
Sabito turned to face the sleeping boy. "I didn't want him to freeze to death, and I couldn't carry him."
"Hmm."
Sabito sniffed. "What're you making?"
...
"..up Giyuu! Urokodaki- sensei made warm broth!" Giyuu blinked tiredly at the peach haired boy.
"..who are you?" Sabito just blinked at Giyuu, his mouth open in disbelief.
"Haha, don't be stupid Giyuu!" His voice was filled with confusion.
"Giyuu? Is that me? I can't remember..." Urokodaki stood up from the soup and walked over to Giyuu, bending down to look at him.
"Sabito, did you hit his head?" Urokodaki's voice was gruff, and he was lifting tufts of Giyuu's hair, looking for any injuries.
"W-who are you? Why are you t-touching me?" Sabito shook his head at Urokodaki, and Giyuu started shaking.
Sabito embraced Giyuu, trying to calm him down, but Giyuu screamed and shrugged him off.
"Sabito! Don't be forceful he's terrified!"
"I'm sorry I just-!" Sabito cut himself short and ran out of the room.
"W-where am I?! Where is-?" Urokodaki quickly chopped at Giyuu's neck, rendering him unconscious. The small boy fell into Urokodaki's arms, and the teacher sighed worriedly.
What happened to you, Giyuu?
