Kyo POV
I woke up to the sound of a phone vibration with a loud ring. From lying down, I sat down on the bed and rubbed my eyes. I look at my phone and nothing was ringing. I remember that I don't set alarms on weekends, so that can't be mine. Then again, that doesn't sound like an alarm, but more like a ringtone. I look over to my bedside desk and saw that it was from Hajime's phone. It looks like his mom is calling him.
He looks sound asleep, and I don't want to wake him up, but his mom will keep calling him, so I decided to answer it just to inform her that he's sleeping.
"Hajime," A soft, but tired voice called. "Are you okay? Did you sleep well? Did you have dinner last night? I'm so sorry for the sudden leave. I should've waited for you."
She seemed tired. Hajime did say that his mom was working overtime, so that explains it. She also seems to be worried about him. What a nice mom he has.
"Uhmm he- hello?" I shyly reply. "Uhm, this is his friend, Kuukyo Ai."
"Oh," She says. She was a bit calmer now. "How is Hajime doing there?"
"Don't worry ma'am. I made sure that his needs are met as he stays over. I made dinner, I let him borrow my clothes and towels, and he's sleeping well as we speak."
I hear a sigh of relief from her. "That's great. Thank you for taking care of my son."
"No worries!"
"Please tell him to come home after he wakes up."
"I will, ma'am! Take care!
"You take care too."
She hangs up the phone. Yeah, she really seems nice. He has a mom who's worried for him and makes sure that his needs are met. My uncle was also like that, but now I wish that I also have a mom. I never get a chance to experience the care of a loving mother.
* * * * *
I fell asleep again. I don't even remember falling asleep. I think I fell asleep minutes after I answered the call of Hajime's mom from his phone.
I think I also had a dream. I was crying somewhere down the floor and all I hear are muffled sounds. In front of me, a ray of light shone and I saw two figures, a man and a woman, reaching one hand each towards me. As I was about to accept their embrace, I heard a loud horn and they fade like dust in front of me. I proceed to cry even more.
That was the dream. I dreamt of my parents for some reason. I know what they looked like, but I vaguely remember what they look like, so they were just silhouettes. My uncle told me that they were involved in a vehicular accident, so that explains the horn.
Why am I dreaming of this now? All my life, this hasn't happened to me. Was this triggered by the call of Hajime's mom? I guess. After that call, I got curious about what it feels like to have parents growing up. I guess a part of me wants to meet them.
It's been minutes since I woke up, but I notice that Hajime is gone. My clothes are folded in the middle of the cot, which the covers are neatly fixed. There was a small note in the middle of the clothes.
Thank you for letting me stay over once more.
I smile and chuckle at myself. He could've just sent me a message. I guess he prefers to thank me this way, which is also nice.
I returned my clothes to my cabinet and hid the cot under my bed.
