The rocks fell, tumbling down to the two she-cats crouched on the rock. Stonevoice watched in horror as Rainstorm and Pinebreeze were buried under the stones, disappearing. As soon as they were gone, Whiteseed let out a shriek. "We have to find them!"
He bounded over to the rocks, and began moving them. Stonevoice rushed over to join him, guilty that she hadn't gone first. But instead of trying to push the rocks like Whiteseed, she leapt lightly up onto the rocks, gently hopping from stone to stone. She was surprised at how unstable it was, and was careful not to make any more rocks fall. She headed to the wall beside the fallen rocks and began to shift through the loose pebbles and dirt. She didn't care how dirty her claws got, she didn't care that she hated Pinebreeze with all of her heart, all she cared about was that Rainstorm, her Clanmate, was in there, and Stonevoice had to save her.
She dug until she reached the larger rocks, and instead of flinging them out behind her like the pebbles and dirt, she took time to move them to somewhere stable. After working hard, she reached one of the heavy stones, like the ones that Whiteseed was trying to move. She pushed up against it, and, gritting her teeth, began to move it out of way of the wall. After that she collapsed in pain and rested. He claws stung and her back hurt like crazy. She really wanted to rest, but she had to keep moving for Rainstorm, who was a fellow Clanmate and expecting kits. She couldn't just ignore a queen in danger! A sudden, dark thought slipped into her head. What if she's already dead? No! She shook away the thought. No! Rainstorm was alive! Stonevoice just had to save her!
Suddenly, there was a yowl of triumph. Stonevoice got to her feet and bounded over to the edge of the pile, trying not to dislodge any rocks. Rainstorm and Pinebreeze, both looking exhausted and terrified, were standing back to back near the entrance to the warrior's den. Icetail was happily pacing around her sister.
"How did you get out? How did you live?" Grassice asked, eyes wide.
"The rocks fell-" Pinebreeze panted. "Fell-and then Rainstorm . . ." She paused to catch her breath. "Rainstorm shoved us-shoved us backwards-into the cave wall . . ." Pause again. "There's a-a tiny crack, leads-leads-leads to the-the warriors den, she got us . . . she saved us . . ."
Pinebreeze collapsed, panting, to the ground. Rainstorm looked more alive, but she looked like collapsing at at any moment, too. She was panting just as hard as Pinebreeze, maybe even harder.
"We need to get them to the medicine cat's den," Wickedcone said frantically. "In the meantime, we need to clear out these rocks. ForestClan, would you have the pleasure of helping us?"
"I wanna stay with my sister," Icetail mewed stubbornly, as Lightfoot helped Pinebreeze to her feet and guided her and Rainstorm to the medicine cat's den. "She needs me."
Wickedcone shared a look with Lightfoot, and then nodded slowly. "Okay. I want Whiteseed, Flowerweed, Thinnose, Youngtooth, Grassice, Daffodil, Creekpaw, Thunderpaw, Sunpaw, Stonevoice, Wishpool, and Moonbeam to move these rocks out of the way and shove them into the lake!"
"Yes, sir!" Flowerweed cried, and then walked over to the rocks. "Help me out, will ya'll?"
The other BlizzardClan cats walked up to him, and the ForestClan patrol quickly followed.
"Wait!"
Everyone turned. Streamwind was standing at the entrance to the elder's den, Cricketfur crouched behind her. "Let me and Cricketfur help! We can help, you know!"
Wickedcone sighed. "Cricketfur, go ahead. Streamwind, you're too old."
"What?" Streamwind spat, furiously lashing her tail. "I'm no older than Don'tknow!"
