Minsu had been celebrating new year's that night with family and friends. Very few friends. Her boyfriend, Somun, had invited himself over.
Minsu was uncomfortable around him at the time.
"My gut is telling me to leave him. I've been getting a bad feeling from him lately, he's barely responding to my calls and has blown me off on dates HE had planned for us. I didn't care the first couple of times but now it's excessive. He's really close to his younger friends too, especially the female one's. They're not even seniors in high school yet and he's a sophomore in college?!" Min crossed her arms, feeling uneasy about him being there.
Her mom nodded, feeling bad for her daughter. "You're smart enough to know what's best for you. Do what will make you happy, okay? Love you." She hugs Min.
"I love you too." She sighs into her mom's shoulder.
Footsteps coming from the stairs interrupted them. Somun had appeared with a drink in his hands.
He went over and wrapped his arm around Minsu's waist, pulling her closer to him. Pecking her lips, she pulled away and smiled awkwardly.
Her mom looked at Min and nodded slightly. Minsu took a couple deep breath's and pulled Somun into another room. He was taken back at her sudden action.
"Somun, let's talk...okay?" He nods, holding her hand as they sit on the couch.
"Lately, you've been out with friends a lot and hanging around, y'know, younger girls. I honestly didn't care at first but you would be pretty touchy with them when I would go with you to those parties. Your arm on their waist or hip, things like that. I told you a couple times that it made me uncomfortable. Now, you're making me think you don't care whether or not I'm confortable with you. It bothers me because-"
His laugh cut her off. "So, I can't have friends that are girls? Come on Min, you have male friends too. You hug them and that makes me uncomfortable."
"Then why didn't you tell me? You're 20 years old, you should be able to tell me what you're feeling Somun. I hug them to greet them and thats it. You'll keep your hands at those girls' waist or hip even when I'm right next to you. Don't you see what you're doing wrong?"
His hand makes it's way to her upper thigh. Somun wasn't the type of person to confront his problems head on.
"Min, can we get over this. You know me by now, I only love you babe. 'Kay?"
His other hand wrapped around her waist. His lips attached themselves to her neck. She pulled away. Scooching to the farther end of the couch away from her boyfriend.
"Somun, I don't think this is gonna work anymore. You hear what I say but you don't listen. It's been a year already. I'm not gonna continue being in a relationship with someone who can't listen and understand others-"
"Minsu, let's just talk about it-"
"We've talked so much Somun. You only listened once. Only because what I said benefited you. You make me uncomfortable now and I no longer wanna be around you. I loved you for a while. I know you're a good person for someone else, but not for me. I'm sorry." Min held her elbows to comfort herself in the uncomfortable situation.
