""SHE'S MY BEST FRIEND, AND I'M HERS. NOTHING NEEDS TO CHANGE BETWEEN US." HE WAS AFRAID, NOT BECAUSE HE THOUGHT SHE WASN'T THE ONE. HE WAS TERRIFIED, BECAUSE HE KNEW SHE WAS."
__________
LUNA MARAVILLA has always felt like she was the Hannah Montana of her generation. Ever since her parents divorced for reasons that still have not been disclosed to the seventeen year old, Luna has "the best of both worlds" in Beverly Hills and Crenshaw. Spending her weekdays at Beverly Hills with her mother and stepfather: going to school, in Student Council, and editor of the Beverly High Daily. While her weekends were spent at Crenshaw with her father and twin brother: learning more about her culture and occasional cookouts with her father's friends and family. Luna knows she is not and will not be the last to live the divided household life, but the consequences of such life has brought to her self worth and esteem have been detrimental to her sense of belonging.
That's where JORDAN BAKER comes in. It all started a fateful day in their fourth grade classroom, their teacher decided to pair the duo together for an art project because she knew the overly eccentric Jordan could help the introvert-in-training Luna. It wasn't easy, 10 year old Luna pushing away the 10 year old Jordan Baker every chance she got during recess. But in true Jordan Baker fashion, he never gave up. And that was the start of Jordan Baker and Luna Maravilla's friendship.
High school brought immense changes to their lives: football and the popularity that came with it drowning Jordan's entire existence, while photography, music, and the newspaper making up at least one half of Luna's life. Despite all that, Jordan and Luna promised to stay as strong as they've always been since the first chocolate milk pouch they shared in elementary school. At least try.
Jordan has never been good with changes and Luna was tired of constant changes in her life, so the changes, secrets, and revelations about their own families that came within Spencer James' transfer might be final nail in the coffin.
And the best friends don't know if they'll get out of it just as that: best friends?
