"But how can I let him just walk away with a smile on my face and a slap on his back when every cell in my body is tied painfully to him, and I can't breathe when I think of him being away from me

CRENSHAW

"Luna, get up. You overslept and you're going to be late for school!" Pushing her covers above her face, Luna groaned at the sound of her twin brother's demands. She could hear Bad Bunny's music blasting from the restroom, at least glad her brother had already finished his morning shower ritual. "Remind me again why I decided to stay the night instead of going back home?"

"Because it was late and dad's car is at Big J's so he couldn't give you a ride back to white people land." Normally, Luna would dismiss her brother's jokes but the moment the morning realization hit that she had no ride back to Beverly Hills hit her like a car, no pun intended. Snatching her big blanket off her body, Luna scrambled for her phone to see what exactly the time was. Seeing the big 7:30 AM displayed, the girl cursed herself. "What the hell, Marcelo? Why didn't you wake me up earlier?! There's no way I make it to school on time, I have to take three busses which already passed by!"

Watching his sister scramble to gather her book bag and clothes, Marcelo rolled his eyes as he slid his Crenshaw Football shirt on. "It ain't on me that you forgot your alarm, little sister. Just call an Uber or something. I am not in the mood for your dramatics."

Thanking god she had taken a shower last night, Luna rushed to the restroom for an extremely last minute face wash. "Damn, relax. What's got you in such a terrible mood, Celo?"

"Your damn rich kid school, that's what! One of ours from the football team is transferring to Beverly." Turning off the sink to save water while she scrubbed her face with her face wash, Luna rolled her eyes as she let out a sigh. "You know you could always transfer also. Mom has been telling you—"

Before she could finish her sentence, Marcelo appeared by the bathroom door frame with a stern look on his face. "And I've said no... how many times now? Let it go. I'm not going to leave dad here alone, should've suggested it 10 years ago."

Luna knew her brother was right, so she decided to not push the subject more. "Anyways, who transferred? Do I know them?"

"Yeah, it's—" Luna's phone began to buzz, making her halt Marcelo's words. Patting her face dry, she peeked at her phone's screen which displayed a handful of text messages.
