*Current Day*

"S-so, you let go? You guys just gave up!" Matt looked sad.

"Ah, Pen&Paper, at that time there was nothing to fight for. You know what, we both had our reasons." Lena said with a tight lip smile.

"What about your side of things Mr.Hotchner? You had been dating that woman Beth for a while at that point. Was that relationship really... worth it? Like was Beth amazing or something?"

Prentiss and Lena took big gulps of their drinks, both knew this was Aaron and Lena's toughest times. Sure, the break-up was tough but this was sticky.

Aaron thought back on the relationship, "Uh, she was a rebound. Well, she was supposed to be, but she just stuck around a lot longer than I expected."

"I remember after that case we were over at Hotch's when Beth found the various photos of Lena," Morgan said.

"OH! Tell me! Does Hotch get slapped again?" Matt says with some excitement.

"Uh, no, and I'll be telling the story this time." Aaron shook his head in disbelief.

Aaron's POV

It had been two months since working on the case with Lena and the NCIS. I had the team and Beth come over for football Sunday. I put the drinks and snacks together on my dining room table and cleared the room of some boxes. The apartment had started to feel cramped, so I was going through old boxes for things to get rid of and donate. As I moved the last box out of the living room the doorbell rang.

"Come in!" I yelled.

"Hey, hey! The football troops are here!" Morgan shouted from the other end of the apartment.

The team walked into the living room and made themselves at home. I gave them the slightest smile and grabbed a beer.

"I'm glad you guys could make it. Beth is on her way now too!" I said.

I heard a few groans.

"Oh, man..." Prentiss whispered.

"Shhh, Prentiss, be nice," JJ said.

"But-" Prentiss tries to defend herself.

"I know..." JJ nods.

I look at Prentiss and JJ, " Is there a problem?"

"Nope, not at all. What time does the game start?" JJ smiles at me.

"It starts in thirty minutes. I'm going to grill some hamburgers. Jalapeno on yours, right, Garcia?" I double-check with her.

"Oh my gosh! Yes sir! You remembered!" Garcia giggled and clapped.

I chuckle and go to the front door, I opened it to reveal Beth.

"How'd you know I was here?" Beth said with a lopsided smile.

"Timing is everything." I smile.

"How are you, my love?" She cups my face.

"I'm good, the team just got here. Come in!" I nod and let her in.

Beth and I walk into the living room and the team politely says hello. I grabbed a beer for Beth and started to get the burgers ready.

"Hey, Beth, can you get the sliding door for me?" I ask her.

"Sure thing, baby" She smiles.

I turn to say thank you and see Garcia and Prentiss pretending to gag. I give them my stoic stare and they stop immediately.
