chapter 3: the skeletal brothers

As soon as y/n walked out of the ruins, he was greeted by a chilly breeze. This was no surprise due to all the snow around the area. Y/n wished he had a jacket on him. He quickly walked down a path that headed straight ahead. Y/n looked at his surroundings and saw nothing but trees and snow. He seemed to be in a Forrest. As y/n walked farther and farther down the path he also started to hear something behind him. He looked over his shoulder but nothing was in sight. He kept going and then he heard a twig snap behind him. No doubt about now, something or someone was behind him. Then, y/n found himself in front of a bridge. But that's when the footsteps got louder and louder. Y/n was paralyzed. Then, a voice behind him spoke.

???: human, don't you know how to greet a new pal? Turn around and shake my hand.

Y/n had no choice. He didn't want to risk running and fighting it without knowing what it was or what it could do was not an option. So y/n decided to obey whatever it was behind him. He turned around. The thing stretched out its hand and y/n took it to shake.

"PFTTTTTTTT!!"

A loud noise followed after and then laughter.

???: hehehe...the old whoopee cushion in the hand trick. it's ALWAYS funny and you're the second to have fallen for it. anyways you're a human right?

y/n: um yeah.

???: that's hilarious. I'm sans. sans the skeleton.

y/n: nice to meet you. are you here to kill me?

sans: well that is my job...but I don't feel like it.

y/n: also you said I was the second to have fallen for that trick. does that mean you've seen another human?

sans: yep. a small little kid passed by here yesterday. also I think you should hide soon.

y/n: why's that?

sans: because my brother papyrus is coming this way and he's a human capturing fanatic.

y/n: WHAT?!

sans: go through this bridge. my bro made the bars too wide to stop anyone.

sans and y/n walked through the bridge quickly.

sans: now you see that post over there?

y/n: yeah?

sans: go over there and hide.

y/n quickly got over to the stand and went behind it. then he ducked down. as soon as he did he heard someone approaching.

sans: sup bro!

papyrus: sans! undyne is hunting the human!

y/n peeked over to see what was going on. he saw a tall skeleton wearing some kind of costume and a red cape.

sans: you mean the one we let go about two hours ago?

papyrus: yes! what other human could I be talking about?!

sans: uh, no one. there's no other human.

papyrus: I'm worried but I know that if I could get them both to be friends then it'll be fine! in fact, I'll call the human right now!

papyrus then pulled out a phone and dialed a number on it.

papyrus: hey! what's up!? I was just thinking, you, me, and undyne should all hang out sometime! I think you would make great pals! let's meet up at her house later!...eh? now's not a good time to call? ah, well I'll call you later then, human!

papyrus hanged up on the call.

papyrus: well, I'm off brother!

sans: right. see ya, bro!

papyrus then walked away...well, more like spun away.

sans: alright. you can come out now!

y/n got up from the post and walked over to sans.

y/n: thanks sans. I need to get going now though. I have to get to that kid as quickly as I can.

sans: why's that?

y/n: I was told to accompany them on their journey. if I don't find them soon then they could get seriously hurt.

sans: got it. well, then why don't I show you a shortcut?
