As you two cross the street, Akutagawa-san spots a brunette-man with bandages all over his body. He isn't close nor far from us.
"Akutagawa-san? Is something wrong?"
His face goes blank. He starts panicking and tells you to immediately fly off somewhere far. You aren't sure what's going on, but decide to obey him anyway. Right when you are about to fly off, he grabs your arm.
"Nevermind." He mutters under his breath.
He grips your wrist tighter and pulls you towards wherever he's walking. He's going towards the brunette and starts talking to him.
"Dazai-sama. Ho-"
The man walks straight past Akutagawa-san. Ignoring him. As Akutagawa-san lowers his head and starts walking away. You quickly yank your arm off of the man and start shouting at the brunette. You don't know who he is, other than the fact that his name is Dazai.
"Hey! He was trying to speak to you here! What are you doing?!"
"Hm? Oh hello miss! To what do I owe the pleasure of speaking to you?" He turns and looks at you.
"Akutagawa-san was trying t-"
Akutagawa pulls you away.
"Do not talk to Dazai-sama like that. If he ignores me, then that's okay." He whispers to you so that Dazai doesn't hear.
You had no idea what was going on, but you didn't want to pick a fight. Although you really didn't want to, you decided to let it go and have Akutagawa-san explain when you two get back.
---
You get back to the Port Mafia headquarters. Everyone welcomes you in. Although they have mixed feelings about you, they respect Akutagawa-san. You're still angry about what happened with the brunette, but decide to wait just a bit more before asking Akutagawa-san. After all, he is still shaken up about what happened.
After around an hour, you decide to head to Akutagawa's room. You knock on the door and wait for it to open. You hear the doorknob jangling and clacking. You find Akutagawa-san coughing as he slightly cracks open the door.
"Oh..Hello Akutagawa-san."
"Do you need something Y/N?"
"Yes, may I come in?"
He stares blankly at you for a brief moment. Trying to process whether or not he should let you in.
"...Alright. Come in."
You walk into the bedroom. It's fairly organized, everything is in place. A framed photo with a younger version of Akutagawa-san along with a man in bandages, but his eye is covered in them as well. Could it be the same man we ran into?
"Well. What is it that you need?"
"I need you to tell me why that man ignored you back there. Who is he?"
He sighs. You give him time.
"You don't need to open up about everything if you are uncomfortable. I just want to know why you were so okay with him treating you like that. Do you seek for his validation?" You try to ask him in a calm tone.
"Yes. He is my past mentor and I look up to him. I believe that he is worthy of treating me however he would like, it's my fault if he doesn't like me..."
"Damn, Akutagawa-san never opens up like this." says Higuchi, leaning against the door listening in on you and Akutagawa.
You notice Higuchi, since you can read minds. But you decide not to say anything as you still want to listen to Akutagawa-san.
"But, you don't need his validation to feel worthy. I notice you, I look up to you, and I know that many others look up to you as well." You hope he takes in your words.
You want to hug him. Make him feel safe and comfortable around you. But you do respect his space and decide to hold off.
"Oh. Thank you, Y/N. I never really open up to people about Dazai-sama..." His voice trails off.
"I deeply appreciate that you trust me. I'm going to head off back to my room."
"Alright, goodnight."
As you are heading back, you think about what he said. You are a little confused about why he opened up to you so easily, you two just met awhile ago. Perhaps he admired your powers? He is the type to have a complex mindset. Perhaps he sees you as worthy...
