Happy Birthday!

You head back to Akutagawa-san. Hoping that he isn't as mad as he was before, you grab your lunch on the way back. They gave you a fig on the side. You despise figs. You think about throwing it out, but decide to offer it to Akutagawa-san in case he likes them.

"Akutagawa-san. They gave me a fig for my lunch, I don't really want it so you can have it if you'd like."

He looks over at you. Without saying anything, he grabs the fig off of your tray and begins to eat it. He seems quite satisfied with it.

"Thank you." He proceeds to savor it. Although he is acting dry, you can tell he is happy.

He offers to take you to the balcony. You can get one of the most beautiful views of the city when standing in it. You lay down. Watching the stars above you. Akutagawa-san is still enjoying the fig you gave him. He sits down on one of the two chairs. You caught a glimpse of him smiling. You don't say anything, you just enjoy the view.

"You know...When Dazai-sama came to the port mafia, I was his most valued subordinate. I honestly was heartbroken when he left... I've always looked up to him." He speaks in a rather quiet tone.

"Oh, I see. How did you end up in the mafia? I hope you don't mind me asking-"

"It's fine. Gin and I lived in the slums along with some other kids. It was really depressing. Let's just say I ended up here through that."

You didn't want to ask more about it, you felt really bad. You two end up talking all night. About your lives, likes and dislikes, and even shared some secrets. Akutagawa-san really opened up. Although he knew to hold some stuff back, you were honored he told you as much as he did. You find the sun welcoming a new day. As you and Akutagawa-san watch the sunrise, you appreciate it and acknowledge its beauty. It's March 1st.

Higuchi walks in.

"Hello Higuchi-san. Have you been feeling well?"

"Huh? O-oh. Yes Akutagawa-sama. I just wanted to pop in to say happy birthday!" Higuchi seemed rather shocked that Akutagawa-san asked how she was feeling.

It's his birthday today. You obviously didn't know since you only joined awhile ago. You want to get him a gift, so you get up and head to your room to get ready. You recall Gin telling you that Akutagawa-san likes tea and antiques. Quite classic isn't it? You want to get him a tea set, porcelain preferably.

You head off, you have no tasks to complete and no errands to run. You throw your purse onto your shoulder, and get ready for take-off. You have a somewhat idea of what to look for, but you aren't sure where to check first. You set up a map on your phone and visit a tea store.

"Hello sir. I am looking for a tea set. More on the classical and antique side; made of porcelain." 

You gaze your eyes around the small shop and notice some beautiful tea sets. You smell the different flavors of tea, all of them looking gorgeously aesthetic. One thing catches your eye. White with golden lined flowers on it, it has a rather fancy handle. You immediately ask to buy it, and off you are with the perfect gift. 

You fly back, excited to show Akutagawa-san your gift. You quickly wrap it up, and put it in a nice bag. You write a sweet card wishing him a happy birthday on it. You then head to his room to check if he is there.

*Knock, Knock*

"Hello Y/N. How are you? Come in-"

You are glad that he appears to be in a good mood. You walk in with your bag.

"Hey Akutagawa-san. I noticed that it was your birthday today, so I wanted to get you a gift. I hope you like it-"

He seems surprised. As if nobody has ever gotten him a gift before...He slowly takes the box out of the bag and unwraps it. His hands, ever so gentle. He lifts the lid.

"Wow. A tea set...It's beautiful. How did you know I liked tea?"

"Your little sister told me. I'm glad you like it Akutagawa-san."

He gives you a gentle hug. 

The warmth inside of you grows. You feel safe when between his arms, even though it was only for a second. You truly feel that he is growing as a person, you have never felt better.
