Welcome to Italy
I'm here , I'm here. I've had 18 years trapped inside the same walls of my parent's house and now I'm finally free.We got picked up in a taxi. Ava and I in one and Jacob and Ollie in the other. We all couldn't believe our eyes. I took in as much as I could, the air, the heat, the people , the sounds. I definitely wasn't home anymore. Ava held my hand as we both stared out of the windows analysing everything we could. This was our new life for a year, a whole 365 days in Italy.
We made our way to our new house. We were all exhausted from travelling and trying to speak Italian. Jacob couldn't speak a word, the only phrase he knew was "ti amo". He was dancing around an Italian market shouting it at the top of his lungs. I'm pretty sure he only knew it from a Rihanna song he heard while out clubbing with Ollie.
Our house was lovely. It has amazing light blue shutters and greenery everywhere. The best part about this place was that it has a sea view and was only a 5 minute walk to the beach. Another amazing thing about this house was that my room was next to Ollie's. The bedrooms were big, all with a sea view. I couldn't believe this was ours for a whole year. I've never been adventurous before. That was all about to change. It all seemed so magical and unreal. If 10 year old Lily could see me now she wouldn't believe it. I can't believe I've had the balls to move to another country for a whole year with the three most important people of my life. We all decided that a pizza would only be fair to eat on our first night in Italy. If we were going to live in Italy we were going to do it right. That meant eating lots of pizza , pasta and most importantly gelato.
By the time we had all eaten ,we were outside enjoying the night air. Listening to the waves crash against the cliffs. We sat around a mini fire. Ollie blew cigarette smoke into Jacob's face to annoy him and Ava stole my blanket so I was a little cold but I didn't mind, I was happy.
"How are you finding your first day here darling?" Jacob asked. He always would call me the weirdest names. It made him sound like mum but I knew he had good intentions behind it.
"I love it here. I never want to go home" I replied. It was the truth, if I could stay here forever I would. It felt nice that I could share this experience with the people who loved me the most. It felt like home.
"Right. I'm off then. Gonna go see if I can find some Italian ladies to woo with my charming English accent." Ollie said. He finished his cigarette and the next thing I knew he was gone. My heart sank. He had only been here a few hours and then he was gone again. I think I was more upset from picturing him with a girl who wasn't me. I guess I hoped Italy would bring us together.I went off to bed, I didn't want to think of him. I thought I'd read a book until I dose off.
