"Because when you stop and look around, this life is pretty amazing" - Dr.SeussOllie never came home last night. I guess he found his Italian lady to "woo". Jacob woke up at 2pm of course. But I was awake at 7am, I couldn't wait to explore Italy. I wanted to get the full experience, if I couldn't live here forever I was going to make this year count.
I cycled into town. I wanted to get some food for my picnic. I planned to have a day to myself at the beach. I wanted to get Ollie out of my mind and focus on a good book, I had chose "little women" I thought a bit of Louisa May Alcott could cheer me up.
After I got a selection of fresh fruit I made my way to the beach. It was beautiful. My hair blowing in the wind, the sound of the waves, my feet in the sand. The only thing about the sand is it always gets stuck to me no matter how hard I try. It didn't matter though, it was a small price to pay for such an amazing reward.
I basically had the beach to myself. There was a group of people around my age playing rugby or American football but they didn't seem to bother me. I made eye contact with a few of them. I've never been good in social situations, I couldn't tell if they were judging me or not. I didn't look over much, I just wanted to get on with my book. I couldn't help but feel like someone was watching me. One of the boys kept glancing at me.
He made his way over to me. I couldn't help but look nervous. Why was he coming over to me? Did I have a bug in my hair? I fixed my dress, just in case.
"Hi. My names Theo. Do you live in the house on the top of that hill?" He asked.
"Hey, I'm Lily. And yes I live there with my friends." I replied. Why did he ask me that? Was he making small talk?
"Do you want to come play with us?" He asked. Me? Play rugby? I could never. I'd get hit in the face and make a complete fool of myself in front of a bunch of guys and a girl. Who was she? She was the only girl there. She must have loved being around all those guys, shirtless.
"Rugby isn't really my thing? Plus I don't want to disturb your game. Thank you for the offer tho." I replied. How could I say it nicely? I was like bambi on ice I was never going to fit in with them. I've never really had a group of friends like they have, I wouldn't know how to fit in. I'd stick out like a saw thumb.
All of a sudden the whole group started coming over to us,bringing beers and music. Ugh. Great there goes my perfect relaxing day at the beach. They all came over one of them seemed so drunk. Knowing me I'll end up looking after him, I'm too nice like that. As he walked over he chugged another beer. He was going to feel that in the morning.
"Everyone meet Lily. She lives up there" Theo said."Hi everyone." I smiled.
"Lily this is Finn, Evie,Will and Levi. Will and Finn are brothers." Theo said.
I couldn't get over it. They were all so attractive. How could a group of friends all be so pretty. It was like they were a group of beautiful angels. Well, Finn seemed like a bit of a rebel. I got up and shook their hands. Was I about to become friends with angels?
