SMALL RECAP FROM THE LAST BOOK:

He walks up to the door, knocks, and then steps off to the side, leaving Dream and I directly in front of the door. I squeeze Dream's hand as I hear footsteps coming towards the door, and the handle creaks as it's turned, the door swinging open with a slight squeal.

My jaw nearly hits the ground when my eyes focus on the figure's face, and I can feel all the nerves in my body tingle.

"Oh my god." I breathe out, and then I lean into Dream's side, feeling as if I'm unable to support myself on my own. He wraps his arm around my shoulder, holding me against him, though I can tell he's confused.

"You're okay."

END OF BOOK TWO

START OF BOOK THREE

My heart begins to beat so fast that I think it'll nearly come out of my chest. As much as I want to say, my body doesn't allow me, my jaw wide open and no words forming at the back of my throat.

"You're okay." I force out, leaning heavily into Dream's side. Sapnap's reaction is similar. His shoulder is pressed to the door frame, hands gripping either side for stability.

"George." He says simply, and tears begin to roll down my face at the sound of his voice again. Another wave of emotion hits me as his voice brings back all those memories that I tried to avoid thinking about.

Dream's arm is firm around my shoulder, but I stand up straight, shrugging it off and practically launching myself at my best friend. We collide hard, and for a moment, I think we'll fall. Sap wraps his arms tightly around me, and I can hear his unsteady breaths and his heart beating like crazy.

I sob into his embrace, and I can tell from the tenseness of his body that he's crying too, even though it's never obvious when he's upset like this. I don't allow him to move for a good few moments, soaking in the fact that he's alive, after all of this, and that I'd been mourning a man that was still alive.

He loosens his arms from around me, and I step back slightly, Dream wrapping his arm around my waist again. I'm thankful, because everything feels surreal, and my mind is dizzy. I try to wrap my head around this truth.

"I'm guessing you two know each other then?" Dream speaks for the first time of this interaction, and I nearly start laughing, bringing a hand up to wipe the tears still on my face.

"This is my best friend, Sapnap." I say, looking up at him with a smile. His blank, emotionless mask stares back at me, but I can tell by his grip tightening on my side that he's surprised. He looks forward at Sap again, reaching out after a moment to shake his hand.

"I'm Dream. George has told me a lot about you." He says as Sapnap takes his hand firmly, shaking it for a moment. My old friend stands tall, his demeanor being of much more confidence than I've ever seen before, especially with him. His skin seems to glow, and he's more filled out than he was since the last time I saw him, seeming to have finally grown into his height.

Even though it's only been about a month, it feels like an eternity has passed, living without my best friend. Granted, meeting and getting to know Dream has kept my mind off of the pain, making the time go much easier, but Sapnap's always in the back of my mind, like the last bit of snow that just won't melt away when spring comes.
