After sitting down and chatting for a while the two of them had gotten quite close, but the boy had more than a few drinks. His words began to slur together, which started to worry Dream. The boy started moving closer and closer to him, Dream would move away each time, he knew what the boy was thinking. The boy placed his hand on Dream's thigh and started moving it up and down slowly, which made Dream look up at him uncomfortably. The boy was too drunk to notice how unsure Dream was.

Somehow he started to move impossibly closer, and began to lean in for a kiss. Dream swerved him, facing the other way for a few seconds. The few seconds felt as long as a lifetime, he asked himself what he was even doing anymore. Anyone's touch that wasn't George's felt so wrong. He realized how irrational he was being at that moment, talking to a boy, flirting with a boy, who wasn't George, the same day as their breakup. He didn't think it would be this hard. Dream didn't notice but the boy had gotten up and left him by himself on the couch after being rejected.

He felt an indent in the sofa beside him which snapped him back into reality. He looked back to see Quackity sitting there with a guilty smile. He had his hand on Dream's shoulder and began to talk to him,

"Hey man, sorry for trying to set you up with someone. I know you aren't over George. I just thought you-" He was interrupted when Dream started to talk over him,

"No, no it's truly fine. I shouldn't have let myself go to a party when I'm feeling like this. I should've just stayed at the dorm. Or even better I should've never left George in the first place."

"I know you miss him, Clay. I would too, but you can't miss out on college because of him. You know George wants the best for you no matter what, he'd be more upset if you didn't pursue your education just because of him. Bad and Skeppy said they would return via Uber back to the dorm in a few hours, but I'm about ready to go, wanna come with?"

Dream smiled and nodded as they both stood up and made their way to the door. Quackity led the way through the people, making sure to say bye to a few friends and make sure Dream wasn't left in the crowd. They reached the car, Quackity sat in the driver's seat and Dream in the passengers. They both buckled up and Quackity started the car.

"Did you drink anything tonight?" Dream asked to make sure he shouldn't drive instead.

"Surprisingly not, haha!" Quackity responded truthfully and they started heading down the road.

"I know you kinda cut me off on what I was saying earlier but, I am sorry for trying to get you with someone else. I thought it might be fun for you to get your mind off of George for a while, I didn't think about how it could've made it worse. I know you're gonna say it's fine or whatever, but it really wasn't." Quackity added.

Dream knew he shouldn't invalidate his apology this time. So, he listened and responded thoughtfully.

"Don't sweat it, I probably shouldn't have gone to a party on the same night as a breakup anyway. Also, it is weird seeing you this, I don't know, serious?" They both laughed at the remark, it was true though. Usually Quackity was in charge of making everyone laugh, which often caused people to overlook his serious side. The laughter quieted down, no more words were said for a few minutes.

Silence filled the car ride besides the sound of the road under the tires. Dream was looking out the window, counting down every second until he could just get back and call George. He knew that he couldn't just cut him out like that, they still needed each other even if they weren't dating. He worked through what he wanted to say, but nothing rolled off the tongue right. He decided he had already opened up enough to Quackity that it wouldn't hurt to ask him for some advice.

"Hey Quackity... I decided I wanna call George when we get back, just to make sure he settled in to college his first day. Do you think that's even a good idea?" Although you couldn't tell by his tone, he internally wanted Quackity to tell him it was a great idea.

"No, I think that's a great idea honestly. I could tell more than ever tonight that you really need him in your life, please do talk to him."

It was almost like he did read his mind. Dream smiled and sighed with relief that he had some reassurance. After knowing it was a good idea it was much easier to come up with things to say. Dream was so excited that when him and Quackity reached the dorm he darted down the hall and unlocked the door in record speed. He sat on his bed and opened his contacts. He clicked on George's number and crossed his fingers. It was a shock when his phone rang all the way through, and he didn't receive a voice on the other side. Just a voicemail.

"Hey! It's George, sorry I couldn't get to the phone at the moment. I will call you back ASAP!" The message ended with a little giggle.

Oh how Dream missed that giggle. Call him dramatic, it was only the first
day without George but, it meant more to Dream. It wasn't just the start of a new beginning, it was the end of the best years of his life. Dream decided to call again, maybe something went wrong? He dialled the number once more and waited. He got the same results, a voicemail. Dream decided to leave a voicemail of his own, everything he wanted to say on call couldn't wait for an answer. So, Dream started writing out every word that he wanted to say.

Hours had passed, but Dream hadn't noticed. Skeppy and Bad returned but that still didn't gain the attention of Dream. He finished writing and he was ready to call one last time, in hopes of an answer, and if not, he would spill all his feelings out over voicemail.
