We raided the national guard base. Probably the most fun our group has had in a while. Found even more ammo there, which we decided to keep at the school due to not having enough room in the van Ace managed to find the keys for.
We decided to leave town today. Start our road trip. Ace made the call to decide to hit a few cities to keep our supplies up.
The first day was alright. We decided to stop at a farm we saw while on our way to our first city.
At the Farmhouse
"Wow, this is nice!" Taeh exclaimed. Which is true. The place was pretty big.
Thump, something falls upstairs. We all pull our weapons. I'm closest to the stairs so I sneak up first. I see four doors. One has light peeking under the door.
In a whisper I say, "okay, on three. One, two.... THREE!" I burst into the room I see a candle sitting at a desk.
"Alright we know you're here, we don't want to fight you." I put my weapon away and wave to rest to back up."Don't lie to me!" A girl is hiding in the closet.
"I swear, we're friendly. We're just looking for a place to sleep."
She hesitantly climbs out of the closet. She looks at us, and seems to calm down. She's beautiful, her long beautiful silver hair contrasts sharply against her tan skin, her eyes peirce my heart like none could ever imagine.
"Who are you?" She looks about our age. Maybe a year or two older.
"I'm William, It's nice to meet you, her name is Taeh, and that's Ace, and she's Faith"
"It's nice to meet you all"After introducing ourselves we move downstairs and sit in the living room.
"So Kireina, are you alone? No one seemed to be here" Taeh asks her.
Kireina starts to tear up, "My family... They were..." She gulps, "They were killed. I was the only survivor"
"Oh my god I'm so sorry"
"No, no it's alright, you couldn't have known" a tear rolls down her cheek. A silence falls across the room.
"So you have extra bedrooms?" I ask, trying to move off that train wreck.
"Yeah, there's three extra bedrooms, If you haven't noticed zombies have a really hard time getting up stairs so It's best if you all sleep upstairs"
"Wait how is that going to work there's three of us and only two bedrooms?"
Taeh perks up, "I'd go in the room with Ace!" Ace blushes.
"Uhhhh okay. I guess that works" I swear Ace is so oblivious sometimes, how does she not see the signals. One Sleep Later
Though I'm normally a night owl I actually woke up first today.
The sun just rose. I think that we should probably start driving early. We're only about an hour away from Chicago but we definitely don't want to get stuck there at night.
I go to wake up Taeh and Ace and then I notice it. Ace and Taeh are spooning. I swear to God. Friggin love birds should get married or something.
I nudge Taeh awake, "Hey Miss. Little Spoon, wake up" She kicks me.
"Screw off you're just lonely" she says in a tired voice.
"Ow!" Her kicks hurt more than you'd think, "Have you told her yet?"
". . ." She looks away, she answers my question with silence.
"I'll let you wake her up, in the meantime I'm going to get the others up"After getting the others up I looked out my bedroom window. I see something on the horizon. I pull out my binoculars.
"SHIT! GUYS WE NEED TO GET OUT OF HERE, CODE RED, I REPEAT CODE RED!" I yell out to everyone. I see a group of about two-hundred zombies coming towards the house. The house explodes with motion, "C'mon! we don't have much time!"
What's a code red?" Kireina yells out.
"Zombies!" Taeh yells. Kireina hurries faster."We don't have much time!" I warn out in the hurry. Shit, we have a lot of stuff to take. Faith gets to the van first, she starts the van. I jump into the back. I see Ace and Taeh coming running out next. Zombies are about thirty seconds away. I look into the window, I see Kireina fall down the stairs landing on her left leg. Her stuff scatters onto the floor.
I jump out of the van. I ran through the door frame. I see her on the floor clutching her ankle.
"Are you okay?"
"Shit! I'll be fine, just help me out here" I help her stand up, "Okay, just stay calm, We're going to get out of here" Every step we take towards the van the zombies take almost three steps. We clear the doorway. We're about five feet away.
"They're almost here, we need to hurry up" every step we take the Zombies get closer and closer.
"Almost there, c'mon five more steps" We get there and I help her get into the van. I step into the van, but a zombie grabs at my ankle. I kick the infected hand off my ankle and yank my leg in the van. I look over and see Taeh and Ace holding hands, neither of them seem to notice until they let go, both blush heavily.Kireina leans in and gives me a tight hug. Tears fill her eyes, she pulls back and kisses me on the cheek.
