Jungkook POV
The evening had been heavy with emotions and shadows of the past. Seeing Y/n so vulnerable, opening up about her pain and regrets, was something I hadn’t anticipated. The tough exterior she always presented was a façade, concealing a deep well of sorrow and loneliness. Her confession left a mark on me, and I couldn’t shake off the sense of helplessness I felt.
Later That Night
Y/n had retired to her room, and I had prepared her dinner, hoping to offer some comfort. When I entered, her demeanor was subdued, and the weight of her words earlier in the day hung heavy in the air. The contrast between her fierce determination and her current desolation was stark.
Dinner Conversation
Y/n: "Thank you for the dinner."
Jungkook: "You’re welcome."
As we sat in silence, I couldn’t help but notice the strain in her voice and the emptiness in her eyes. It was as though the revenge she had sought had left her more hollow than fulfilled. I wanted to offer some solace, but my words felt inadequate.
Emotional Exchange
Jungkook: "Y/n, are you okay?"
Y/n: "Hmm."
Jungkook: "I thought you only had your dad in your life. Maybe you have a big family?"
The question seemed innocent enough, but it struck a chord. Y/n stopped eating, her expression changing to one of sadness and resignation.
Jungkook: "I-I am s-sorry if I said something wrong."
Y/n: "You don’t have to be sorry. My life is a misery. My life has become a joke. I hate my life. I know I'll die soon."
Jungkook: "Why?! You’re so young to die."
Y/n: "Do I have a reason to live? There is no one in this fucking world whom I can call my family, whom I can call mine. What will I live for? Just to kill people?"
Her words cut deep. The pain and isolation she felt were palpable. I tried to offer a glimmer of hope, though I felt inadequate in the face of her suffering.
Jungkook: "I cannot give you a reason to live, but think about your friends. They love you. What will they do without you? They see you as their sister."
Y/n: "They'll manage without me. Jungkook, I genuinely hate this mafia world. Why can’t I live a peaceful life? I never wanted to be like this."
Her tears flowed freely, and it was heartbreaking to see her so defeated. I reached out, but she seemed to retreat further into her shell.
Final Moments
Jungkook: "Hey, don’t cry."
Y/n: "Yeah. I am not allowed to cry. I am not allowed to laugh loudly. I am not allowed to get angry. I am not allowed to be mad. I am not allowed to do anything."
Jungkook: "I didn’t mean that."
Y/n: "Yeah, you didn’t mean that."
Her sarcasm was a defense mechanism, and I could see that she was struggling to cope with her emotions. I respected her wish for solitude and left the room quietly, feeling the weight of her pain more than ever.
As I walked away, I couldn’t help but think about the depth of her suffering and the loneliness that enveloped her. It was clear that the life she had been forced into was one of constant conflict and loss. The world she inhabited was a brutal one, and the cost of living within it was her own happiness and peace of mind.
Reflection
The night was a somber one. Y/n’s despair and isolation were stark reminders of the price she had paid for her choices and the life she had been thrust into. As I lay in my bed, I hoped that somehow, in the midst of all the chaos, she would find a way to heal and perhaps even find some semblance of peace.
