Applejack's POV
It is recess. I am sitting near my friends and thinking for more lyrics to my song. Yea, I write songs, but I don't sing in public due to 2 reasons
1) Ever since my father passed away, I lost confidence to sing in front of audience
2) I have stage fright.
I only sing when I am at home. So, while thinking...Principal Celestia sent an announcement
" Dear Wondercolts, pls meet at the entrance of the school in 20 min. I repeat pls meet at the entrance ."
We started walking towards the entrance and waited for Principal to come.
*Time skip*
"Today I gathered all of u here to tell u a happy news. There will be a week of camping at Camp Everfree, as well as a Music competition . All that are willing to join shall come to sign in Luna's office. It would be a nice time to enjoy fresh air than to stay in these four walls. It is on the the second week of March. Your parents can also volunteer to help with the food supplies. The judges for the competition will be The Dashes Sisters. Best of Luck to all. U may now leave for lunch" Celestia said.
*time skip to lunch*
"Hey AJ, u should totally join that competition. You have a beautiful and angelic voice and I am sure you will win" Pinkie said to me. The rest of my friends supported her.
" I can't, I've lost all my confidence " I told them trying to reason them.
" Please, give it a chance. Maybe, one of your own songs is enough. Just give it a try. Don't waste your voice!" Rarity said.
"Let me see what I can do, I'll check with my family too" I told. They nodded.
*At home*
"Hello Applejack, how was school?" Ma asked. (A/N, in this story only her father has passed away, her mom is alive)
"It was nice Ma, want help with the jars?" I asked pointing at the apple jam jars.
" Sure" Ma said, as I went to help her.
After helping her I was sitting on the counter doing homework, suddenly something struck my mind.
"Ma....There is a....singing competition in the ....2nd week of March. Um...my friends are asking me to join and to sing some song I wrote. U know right I haven't sung in public after Pa passed away. So...should I join? I need your and Big Mac's opinion too. Also, Principal Celestia said that parents can volunteer to help with the food supplies. I said to Ma.
" You should definitely go honey, U have a beautiful voice and just because Pa died, don't hide your talents, show it to the world , if he was here, he would say u to do the same thing." Ma said. I sighed and thanked ma. I went outside the barn in search of Big Mac. After a while, I found him in the shed.
"Hey Big Mac!" I said waving at him
"Hey Applejack" Mac said and waved back.
"Um...Mac, I uh wanted to a-" Before I could finish Big Mac asked back
"Came to ask me whether to sign up for the competition or not . Am I right?" He asked
"Uh..yea, how u know?" I asked
"Same school and U haven't sung for a while, and I heard your friends asking u to join, easy to guess." He said. I sighed.
"So, what should I do?" I asked
"Follow your heart, if your willing to overcome fear and give a trial then go for it, but I would love to say that U should join, U are made for that, U have a unique voice." Big Mac said and began to leave.
" Wait!" I said. He turned to face AJ.
" I will join it, but without your's, Ma's, Applebloom's, Granny's and my friends support I don't think I'll be able to do it." I said.
"We will always be there to support" He said with a warm smile. I hugged him and he hugged me back.
"Now go and do your work, I'll sign you up tomorrow" He said and left.
I hope I am not making a mistake I will regret. I sighed went back to the barn and continue my homework.
