Choi Yeonwoo woke up to grunts and rasping. The antidepressant drugs and sleeping pills still burned in his bloodstream. His eyes were hazy, droopy like a mist was over them. He slowly lifted his weak body up to search for the origin of the sound. Now sitting up he heard it again.
The open window next to him let the night breeze in, making the white long curtains sway but their movements got interrupted by a shadow. Yeonwoo could guess from just looking at the build who it was, why shouldn't he? It was his probe that he left to protect. His soulmate that he would hurt if he continued to stay with him. The person that he still kept dreaming about even though he was drugged.
"Yeonwoo-ah" Go Yoohan whispered.
Why can't he leave him alone even in his dreams, he thought. Choi Yeonwoo's head hit the bed, ignoring the thing he wanted to happen, ignoring his drugged imagination. Why does it have to hurt this much to protect the one you love, the mono pondered and closed his eyes. Shutting out the shadow that pains his heart, shutting out the rest of the world.
"Choi Yeonwoo." The voice said a little louder.
He shouldn't listen to it, it will only break him more when he realizes this is fake. How can Yoohan be here when he doesn't even know that he's here.
"Choi Yeonwoo! I came to save you" The voice repeated even higher.
Ignore the hope and avoid the pain. It's the only way to keep on breathing. All the time he spent here in this hospital was to get better. To be able to live a life without him, to live a life without his oxygen.
He opened his eyes when he felt a touch on his arm, but it was dull. Like an echo of what a touch feels like, but it still awoke something in him. The electricity that nerves generated made him open his eyelids, commanding him to do it. Yeonwoo did this even though his body protested. Leaning over him was his probe, his crinkled eyes in a color that he only sees as another type of grey. He misses seeing them in color when they look as sweet as caramels. The probe's face was covered with his usual black face mask preventing the mono from having a color rush.
"Go Yoohan?" Said Choi Yeonwoo, his voice like parchment.
"I'm here my Yeonwoo, my beautiful Choi Yeonwoo", said the one leaning over with a gentle voice. His gaze caring as ever as if he has found his missing puzzle pieces.
"I have missed you so much, why didn't you come sooner, Yoohan-ah?" The mono's heavy eyes were glazed like glass.
Even though his body was weak he still lifted a hand and touched the man's cheek. His hand felt the fabric of the mask, soft but still coursed. Why is it so real he thought? The mono wanted to rip it off to see the handsome face hidden underneath. To experience the high of color rush that paints his grey world. An urge that was dangerous. An urge that put him here in the first place.
"Shhh, I'm here now. We don't have much time, so we need to move now" Yoohan said.
Like he was handling porcelain the probe helped his mono up from the bed. The mono clinging onto his body as best he could. Choi Yeonwoo didn't put up a fight or resisted, how could he?
"Where are we going?" Yeonwoo asked while being led through the window out of the room supported by his soulmate.
Yoohan turned his head slightly and looked at his future. Even under all the drugs, Yeonwoo could still see his gaze of love and longing. He manhandled the weak body of his love through the window and down onto the soft earth.
"To a happy life", said he simply, leading them out from the hospital.
