CHAPTER TWO: The Death Curse
Lucilla had not expected anything interesting to happen in her second last year of Hogwarts. Her father had spoken to her about all sorts of things that had happened in his sixth-year at school and she didn't believe anything nearly as cool (or scary) would happen in her time at school. Yet here she was, sitting in her dormitory biting her nails. Worried and slightly terrified.
"Stop biting your nails, it's a bad habit." Victoria Urquhart said.
The Urqhart twins, Victoria and Alexandra, were the most annoying people you could ever meet or at least that's what Lucilla and EJ both thought. They had been sharing a dorm with them for their entire Hogwarts life and Lucy was starting to wish she could be a boy in the boy's dormitories. Maybe she was just biased since her father disliked their father with a passion. Hamish Urquhart, who went on to become a famous Quidditch player.
"I'm sorry, Miss Perfect," snapped Lucy, shuffling over the other side of the room to put her robes on ready for class. "What do we have first today?"
Victoria scowled at Lucy but answered anyway, "Herbology with the Gryffindors."
"Damn, I hate Herbology." EJ cursed, trying to do her tie up neatly.
"EJ, sweetie, you failed Herbology. You can't go, same with you Alex," Lucy said with a little laugh, pulling a cloak over her uniform. "Victoria and I have to endure an hour of Herbology as well as an hour of James Potter sucking up to Professor Longbottom."
Victoria sighed dreamily, "I don't know what you have against that boy, Lucy. He's perfect in every single way and his father is mega-rich and famous. You wish you were that awesome."
"I think you're in love," EJ sung as she looked up from the book that she was reading. "Victoria, you've had a crush on him since first-year why don't you just shoot your shot?"
"He doesn't go for Slytherins," she said pouting.
Alexandra laughed at her sister, "No, he just doesn't go for you. Didn't he date Emily Summers in fifth-year?"
Victoria huffed and crossed her arms over her chest angrily. She usually hated having this conversation with them and this time was so different. Alexandra, EJ and Lucy laughed, each of them sharing a knowing look.
"Come on, Lucy. Let's go to Herbology," said Victoria, glaring at her sister and EJ. "I want to get there early."
"So you can go and watch James Potter talk to Professor Longbottom!" called EJ as she and Lucy departed the room.
The common room was full of bustling students getting ready for their first classes of the day. The fifth-years were carrying piles of books that they would've had to get because of their OWLs coming up. Seventh years looked relaxed, even though they had their own NEWT exams to take.
"I'm going to kill you!" screamed a voice and Lucy whipped around to see that EJ's little sister, Addy was running around the common room chasing after her best friends Albus and Scorpius. "Get your asses back here right now! I'm going to hex you into oblivion I swear to -"
"Addy, what the hell is going on?" Lucy asked, putting her hand out to stop the angry girl from running any further.
Addy wriggled around in Lucy's grip, "Let me go, Lucy! I need to kill them!"
"What happened?" said Victoria curiously, watching the two boys stop and laugh at Addy as she writhed around in Lucy's hand.
"They woke me up by charming frogs on my bed. I think I have every right to turn them into frogs, oh Merlin I want to murder them." Addy said, breathing heavily as she sent a very particular finger in her friends direction.
