The sun rises just enough to peak over the large cliff walls hiding her from the rest of the walls. Birds serenade each other somewhere far away, beyond here, outside of her home, her cage.

Annabeth smiles as the sunlight kisses her face, tilting her chin up ever so slightly to catch it. Her hair tumbles past her shoulders and wraps around her waist, creating a harness as it continues on to tie a know around the top of the turret. She looks down at the ever so green grass, trying to pretend it's not there, trying to pretend the temptation isn't there.

The smell of chocolate chip cookies breaks her out of her reverie.

"Cookies," she says cheerfully to Gale, grateful for the distraction- because if she let her thought run rampant, she just might jump of the tower, down to the soft grass and gentle stream.

She grabs her chameleon (who is attempting to blend in with the roof- jokes on him, she always wins hide and seek) and gracefully jumps of the roof, placing her friend on her shoulder and gripping her hair.

For one blissful moment she feels free, but just like every time, it only lasts a minute. The wind picks up and whips her hair just for a bit until she twists, shifting her weight to swing into the window. In one smooth movement she rolls, then uses her momentum to jump to grab the timer off of one of the rafters.

Gale climbs up her hair to sit and she slips on some oven mitts. The moment ends quickly and she is possessed by an inexplicable anger.

"However grateful I am, I can't help but wonder, Gale." With an irate sigh she removes the cookies. "When will my life begin?"
