3rd Person

It was raining heavily, and the very pregnant, very ill queen lay in wait of relief from all the pain. Her guards had gone in search of a cure for her illness, in search of a drop of sunlight that probably didn't even exist. It was their last hope.

Queen Athena groaned again, and King Frederick sympathetically squeezed her hand, looking around worriedly for the guards. They had to get back soon, or Athena would not make it.

The door burst open, and four guards bearing the royal seal- a Grecian sun- rushed in. They looked to the king, who was watching them hopefully, and the one holding a bundle nodded. Frederick sighed in relief and summoned the royal physician, who came in with nurses by his side.

The drop of sunlight, which was in the form of a flower, was successfully turned into a drink and given to the queen. Athena was able to have a beautiful and healthy baby girl with blonde hair that seemed to glow, and was longer than most baby's hair. Athena named her baby girl Annabeth.

Unfortunately, the magical liquid that had kept Athena alive long enough to deliver the baby did not keep her alive for much longer.

Her last word were to Frederick. "Keep her safe, my love. My little Annabeth deserves it." And then her life faded away.

The whole room was crying, except for little Annabeth. She had already done her fair share of crying and was now sleeping. The king took his child, tears streaming down his face, and held her. However, he wasn't sure he wanted her anymore. The thought of a child had sounded nice, with his wife by his side. But alone? He wasn't sure at all.

Under the watch of the room, Annabeth finally opened her eyes. They were a beautiful shade of grey that kept shifting, like a storm. They were full of intelligence and wonder, even though she was just a baby. They were the same as Athena's.

          And Frederick hated them.

The next three years were full of neglect for Annabeth. Her father hardly showed any more love to anyone.

Until he remarried. To someone from a far off land, named Helen.

Helen also hated Annabeth. She took joy in hurting the little three year old, and making it look like an accident. But Annabeth's stormy eyes always watched her. And every time Helen could see what a good queen Annabeth would become, for her eyes shown with kindness and wisdom. And in Helen's case, accusation.

Helen was eager to have her own children and get rid of Annabeth.

The kingdom adored Annabeth. Thanks to Helen being a horrible queen and Frederick only living her to follow Helen's every order, the kingdom was only being held together by their love for Annabeth. She would come to the orphanages and help with chores. She would play with children her age as she grew up, and have conversations with the older ones, and sometimes even adults. If she wasn't with her future subjects, she was in the library reading, or with a rich old couple.

The couple went by the names of Chiron and Hestia (I know, just go with it). They adored her like she was their own child. Chiron taught her how to read and paint. He taught her history, architecture, and everything else a queen needed to know. Hestia taught her how to be a good person and how to show love. On her sixth birthday, Chiron gave Annabeth a beautiful golden dagger, and Annabeth treasured it.

When she was six, Helen gave birth to two little boys. Twins, named Robert (Although everyone called him Bobby) and Matthew. Frederick and Helen showered the boys with gifts and affection, but Annabeth continued to show love to her kingdom, and her kingdom continued to love her. They all knew she would be a great queen.

When she was seven, Helen took matters into her own hands. She hired a witch, named Hera, to get rid of her. When Hera came that night, she saw Annabeth sitting with her dagger, singing a song. Hera, being an old woman, felt young and youthful again, and greed took over her. She grabbed the child and modified her memories, so all she had left from her previous life was her dagger from Chiron and everything she had learned in the past seven years of her life. She was hidden away in a tower.

The kingdom once again fell into a grief, a grief similar to the time when they had lost Athena. Except this time they had no one to take them out of it and lead them to a brighter future. The kingdom slowly degraded and turned to a place of hate and crime over the years.

Helen did nothing to change it. She was convinced that when one of her sons was the king, all would return to normal, and the kingdom would be the best kingdom of all. Yet her sons were rude and inconsiderate, and the kingdom hated them as well.

The only time when all of the people would come together was each year on Annabeth's birthday, and even then there wasn't as much love as there used to be.

Every year, on the lost princess's birthday, they would spend the day parading and dancing, and every evening they would carry out their tradition (besides the royal family, who despised everything about it). Chiron and Hestia would lead them in the Floating Lantern Festival. The would light decorative lanterns and let them all fly into the sky.

What they did not know was that it caught the attention of a certain girl in a tower, miles and miles away.

Whew, that was fun! 1013 words, not as bad as I was expecting! Hope y'all enjoyed it, catch ya next time.

          Agurs to ya nerds!
